  6. Tis the morning of The Curious Experiment, a dangerous thig when it's Maximus wearing the white coat and mixing up all ze ingredients. Could be EXPLOSIVE or a damp squib. Do not try this at home! With the balance of $200 to invest, Max has gone for %-age Quaddies at Ellerslie, Caulfield and Rosehill, (totalling $140) plus a couple of two-race $20 Win Multis (1 each at Ellerslie and Caulfield,) and the last $20 on a Bonus Back bet in R1 Caulfield - to reinvest if it fails to win but runs 2nd, 3rd or 4th. 7. The crowds at some of the meetings were incredible. I saw Cardigan Bay paraded at Hutt Park on his return from the States and the crowd that night just to see the Champ was mindboggling. I watched the 1973 Inters at Harold Park as a 20 yr old and it was standing room only the entire facility for all 4 nights.I have never experienced anything like it since, at any venue .A once in a lifetime experience .

  10. Maxi wishes to explain his approach to the picks that follow for the morrow, known as the Curious Experiment - Curious being the funder, Max getting the free ride making the selections. Gallops only (Max is usually hopeless on the wobblies, as proven in Rees's comp). Emphasis will be on %-age Quaddies, and Multis - at Ellerslie, and some metro Oz meetings tomorrow. Depending on how the FF odds are looking tonight, some bets will be posted tonight/early tomorrow. Any $$$ refunded from scratchings will be reinvested on Sunday. A big thanks pre-investment to Curious fo

  11. Yes, he covered the trots way back. Christchurch based. He had one helluva head of hair back in the day. Commanded total respect. I picked him out a mile off in the Melbourne CBD 25 years ago. Should have got his autograph come to think of it. In more recent times he called a greyhound race, with an earthquake rocking and a tv monitor hitting him. Top bloke, and total professional. He should actually be promoted to the central commentary position and only wear a cream, bone, white, off white, ivory or beige jacket.

  12. Good Morning Clubbers. Good Luck Max/Curious. I have not indicated a date yet so I will probably go on the last week with Pete. In the meantime, inspired by the 'Get On' boys I am going to do a 'LET IT RIDE': I will place a $100 fixed odds place bet starting this week and should there be a return reinvesting it all on a place bet the following week for the duration of the club. Should be a bit of fun and if we get some traction it may get interesting. So, this weeks place moral is: M2 - R7 - #13 - Il Affare @ $1.90. Hopefully I will be placing a $190 pla

  27. Eight different selections in a 14 horse field, and 9 BB,s out of 15 selectors. R Way the earliest selector with a BB in Race 3 obviously with a cautious approach with the prob fav. Gordy in Race 5, Ye Olde Pete and Baby in Race 6, and Gazzac in Race 8. Rex hasn't posted yet so could be fireworks in the last if it is close, and with smallish field it will be a matter of cents in some cases . LOVE IT.
