They've really promoted it this year on all media streams and run it alongside champions in the Waikato in other sports, especially cycling. I think putting it out there as a real sport, not just a gambling event, has paid dividends. It's like we are going back 20 years, when everyone preferred a night at Cambridge to the cold and sterile, concrete jungle of Alex Park and I hope that they go on from here with this level of interest.

I used to love the Racing Calendar 🙂 I collected them and had years and years of them.... That's what helped me find the owner and trainer of Skoota 🙂 The whip that was a race win prize, that I had on my wall that we found on the Trentham track at the 800m mark, for years, but I returned it 🙂

I understand what you're saying RJB. Darren Weir won group 1's ... but now folk know what was possibly happening in some cases behind the scenes it puts a whole new focus on it. True Weir.. and KP may not have acted that way with every horse or may have, who knows, that's the issue now with any owners, trainers etc. that want to do business with KP. How he ever thought that what he was doing was okay, or even needed with a filly, even when it was quiet and in a stall, I don't know, and as NG alluded to, age is immaterial, I know 14 and 15 year olds that would understand and nurture a horse with more understanding than he showed. What I definitely do know .. it makes me dislike rodeo even more.
