It's only a fair approximation for sure, but there is easily available data on the TAB website showing strike rates for jockeys when riding 1st or 2nd favourites. Much better comparative data for mine than raw strike rate. E.g., Name: Danielle Johnson Stats: NZCareer (8163:976:823:713) .205 Stakes (734:70:68:56) .172 Fav (1016:309:197:109) .448 2nd Fav (1012:185:1

Getting back to the original thrust of the topic, it appears the Appeals Tribunal agreed with me and reading the decision, I don't see any relevant evidence presented by the apellant that suggests the penalty was inappropriate. I'm not really clear what hope they thought they had. Seems to border on the frivolous to me.

Wrong. I am, at least officially, a trainer, although some may say not a trainer's ahole. However, I have done this numerous times over the last 20 years and even provided the results to clients

    Site demeanour

I think I want to disagree with that pete.

Be interesting to see what they argued should mitigate the penalty. It looked pretty robust to me based on precedent etc.

If all your rides were on Winx's or Black Caviar's then not necessarily. You'd just have to be good enough to stay on.

It was Max's opinion above which I think is what we are debating. "Most Kiwi trainers and many owners would disagree with you, mate ... several that I know say he is worth 'a good couple of lengths' on a horse."

Where's your data for that? It doesn't stack up for mine. It's hearsay. Saying that, I'd be happy to have him on my horse for the reasons you state if I didn't want to back it.

That could be interesting but I can tell you it won't look pretty if you use SP as your assessment of chance though.

I'll ask you the same question Max that I asked Vvd. Would you please put up the data you have supporting the claim that his rides outperform their chance otherwise by 2 lengths+ And I don't count hearsay as data.

Do you have any data to support that claim? E.g. strike rate relative to chance of horse otherwise?
  12. Yes. seems to take weeks even though they say days. Just rang them today to get a report on one of those. Very helpful but would love to see it myself. Don't understand why it can't go up on the day.
  13. It was Terry I thought?
  14. A bit hard done by I thought. Looked like a cracker day though as you say, and nice run all the same.

    City of Auckland Cup

Yes, but some who haven't been to specsavers lately can't see it.
  16. Before the election, Treasury was forecasting a brief dip in house prices. Having been proved well and truly wrong, it is now expecting rampant house price growth over the next five years. Next year, prices are expected to grow four times faster than wages and five times faster than the economy as a whole, rising 8.5 per cent. House price growth will slow but will run at about twice the speed of wages and the economy as a whole for the next four years. Treasury is pegging growth of above 5 per cent a year every year until 2025. The one exception is 2022, when it is forecasting 4.5
  17. The economy as a whole, will grow – and fast. Treasury is pegging 1.5 per cent growth next year, picking up to 2.5 per cent in 2022, before roaring ahead with 3.7 per cent growth in 2023, 3.8 per cent in 2024, and 3.2 per cent in 2025

  22. Like they claim Phar Lap but I think you'll find he was born in Whangarei which last I looked was in New Zealand.
  23. Any other kiwis ever made it? Lorde I think? Neil Finn and Split Enz?
