Govt and spending.

Watching both TV channels today and partially listening to 1zb it seems that everybody wants something.Be it roads,school lunches,subsidy of swimming lessons or GST removed from sun screen.

Don't know much about Govt finances but imo there are only3 ways to raise finance for everybodies needs/wants.

Borrow,tax or sell none of which the average joe bloggs is happy with.What else can a Govt do.

There is a 4th way, and there was a parallel in racing, and that is to be more efficient and productive and think smarter and focus on what is important with the money that is available.

Particularly relevant to transport, education and health, where they spend money like it is an endless supply.

Education, where schools want Ferraris, when Corollas will do, especially with the alarming stats on performance and attendance, the focus should be there.

Those large Govt departments are money hungry monoliths, at bit like the Racing Board was, and turkey don't vote for an early Xmas, so they need to be run with a strong hand, which Seymour says he will do, and I hope it is something he delivers on.
