Queensland three-year-old Alligator Blood retained his lead at the top of All-Star Mile voting at Thursday’s release of the public’s say on the field for next month’s $5 million event at Caulfield.

Alligator Blood drew more than 18,000 votes to top the All-Star Mile tally at Sunday’s cut-off point, leaving him more than 6000 votes ahead of Kiwi star Melody Belle.

Golden Eagle winner Kolding finished third in the voting with 10,731 votes ahead of Star Missile (10,439 votes), who had a huge head-start courtesy of his band of more than 800 owners.

Below is the full list of the top 10 votegetters in the 2020 All-Star Mile. The remaining five runners will be announced in the days after the Blamey Stakes at Flemington on Saturday week.

just another example of Australian marketers showing us USELESS FLOCKING KIWIS how to do it properly.

What part of this concept would you like to see NZ do - and what stake is NZ going to front up with?

G'day Mardi... its not so much the initiative/huge stake of the All Star Mile  (or the Golden Eagle/Everest etc) its just that someone came up with the idea of parachuting skydivers in wearing jockey silks for the big announcement. Undeniably attention-grabbing, even for people who know nothing about racing...it screams that something BIG is on its way!

Interested to know which of the mainstream networks picked it up for news/sport coverage

Racing in Oz still gets some positive mainstream media attention. Not here, well not often anyway.

I was watching trackside and saw an ad for derby/oaks classic racing. Hardly the place to put that ad up. Why not do even basic things like that on non racing media?

I quite like the All Stars, and even the idea behind the Kosciusko. Not interested in The Everest myself but they promote it well.

These things just show the difference in thinking between them and NZ. It doesn't hurt they have a truck load more cash to throw around as well.
