barryb
Te Rapa Racing A stunning sunrise set the scene for the recommencement of public training at the Te Rapa Training Centre yesterday morning. Under Level 3 we had restricted access to our resident trainers only, yesterday we were able to welcome some Cambridge visitors back! Despite being set on over 100 acres, just off the busiest road in Hamilton we’re constantly amazed that people don’t know that we not only race 20 times a year, but there are horses trained on site 6 days a week. A challenge for us is to spread the word far and wide. Comprising five different surfaces the Training Centre has been in action for over 50 years, right back when "Te Rapa" the suburb featured a lot of farm land! The centre piece of the Club is our sand based “course proper” track, famed as one of the best winter racing surfaces in NZ. Having undergone its annual major renovations prior to lockdown, it is in outstanding condition ready to play a vital part in getting Waikato based horses back up to full fitness as we gear up for racing to resume here at Te Rapa on Saturday 4th July."TE RAPA TV" As we countdown to Racing again, we want to make sure we continue to engage with you from the safety and comfort of home. Next week we will launch "Te Rapa TV" initially with vision from Trackwork, behind the scenes content and a series of "in conversation with..." hosted by CEO Andrew' Butch' Castles and Industry Stakeholders. The content will be distributed through our Social channels, LinkedIn and via a new Te Rapa TV section on the website. Our first Interview will be with the voice of The Waikato Racing Club, race caller, George Simon. We are in the final planning stages of how we will utilise the "Te Rapa TV" platform for a full race day. Stay tuned for exciting updates. We'd love to know what you'd like to see, learn about, who you'd like to hear from and any questions you may have about all things Racing. Drop us an email at info@teraparacing.co.nz so we can include them in our planning. Best wishes & Stay Safe, The Waikato Racing Club Team

Are people finally starting to think? would be nice if things moved quick and the NZ product was as enticing as this, around the whole country. Please demand it Winnie , or other clubs take Te Rapa,s example on board, (NZ racing may yet be saved)
