Lay of the Day comp - Round 3 entry thread (Sat 11 July)

Recommended Posts

Post your Lay of the Day on this thread.   Choose any race from these five meetings:  M2 Ellerslie, M6 Riccarton, M11 Rosehill, M12 Caulfield, M14 Sunshine Coast.

Posting deadline is midday on Saturday, unless you have a pick in one of the six NZ races that run before midday, in which case they must be posted before the race is run.

I would truly appreciate if you could post using the following format - Meeting name, Race #, Horse name

eg.  Rosehill, Race 1, Lady Banff

In the scoring spreadsheet I record the horse's name, not the saddlecloth number so would appreciate if you could post the horse's name - I don't need the saddlecloth number.  If you post both name and saddlecloth number and they don't correspond, I will take the horse named, as your selection.

Racenet lays

TRUMBULL (Rosehill Race 7 No 4 – 3.15pm AEST)

Trumbull jumped cleanly last time and was good winning the Civic Stakes but there are a few factors this time which would suggest he’s a risk. This looks a tougher race with Noble Boy and Girl Tuesday engaged and Trumbull rises 2.5kg off the last start win. The Armchair Punter thinks Order Again can turn the tables while Clinton Payne is keen to be with Noble Boy.

VIRIDINE (Caulfield Race 7 No 2 – 3.35pm AEST)

We had Viridine as our lay a few weeks back and while we could have egg on our face again, he does look a risk at short odds this week. Drops back to 1100m and while he drops in weight, this is a rise in class and he could get stuck back on the fence from barrier two. Meets some in-form gallopers in I Am Someone and Ashlor, who we would rather steer you in to at the odds.

Rosehill, Race 1, North Pacific

thanks John

Noticing a pattern here Geoff.  I quite like this one - was quite taken with the recent trial, and have put a couple of dollars on.  One of us will be unhappy.

I dont know if that is a bad omen or not with Racenet putting Viridine up again. They are normally Shiite so he is bound to win again.

Sunshine Coast Race 2 Socialising

Looks like bred to so in the soft, but all 4 wins to date have been on good tracks, so worth the risk at 1.85

If you can, have a look at this horse’s last win.  Cracker of a ride from the kid whose surname is hard to spell and harder to pronounce.

Big fan of this kid - hope he can manage his weight.

Agree re the surname - reminds me that I actually kind of miss listening to Richard Bromley butchering basic literacy on Trackside radio.  Also agree that he is a very good young rider - great strike-rate, however I'm not sure if that win was down to the rider or the horse.  Very impressive either way, so I'll make her today's Best Bet for any non posters and regular scratchings.  Will she eliminate anyone else in addition to Hesi?

Best Bet = Socialising in race 2 at SC
