His full brother ran 2nd in a Grand National Steeplechase while he himself was placed in the Wellington Steeple, The McGregor Grant Steeple, the Great Northern Steeple and the Waikato Steeplechase. Tim Douglas had a huge amount of success with the descendants of Wuthering Heights. I have a vague memory that Laurie Laxon trained a good 3 yo called Gold Heights who was from the same family. Still need an answer to this one: Balloch was an unraced entire who retired to stud at Alton Lodge Te Kauwhata from where he proceeded to go on to a great stud career being twice crowned Champion Sire of NZ producing such greats as Tauloch, Tails and Dalray. Can you name the last black type winner in NZ descended from his sireline ? Clue - it was 1979. Could be a clue in the previous trivia question I asked.... Horse used to always drop out long last and then run on but somehow in this particular race he managed to boot the old bugger up and he led most of the way. Hard to say who was more exhausted out of horse and jockey. It was peeing down with rain and 8 degrees. I was up in the warmth of Silks eating and drinking.
