Yeehaa 😃 Copy THAT Roger That, good buddy. It was Over and Out shortly after the start. Last half in 54.31 is always going to be hard to beat. One horse that did put his hand up, in mind anyway, was Terry. His last half was the second fastest in the race, and his last 200 metres was the fastest. There were as many horses behind him at the finish, as were in front of him, so I think it was it very creditable effort. Thought Kangos run had credit too. Seemed to be 1 of the few from the back making a move forward last 600-700 metres. And had to go 3 wide entirely around that last corner. Not sure what his sectionals were. Funny on replay video there's a person you can clearly here over the commentator in crowd Yelling loudly "GO BLAIR" x3 times lol. Then says "you little beauty - wahoo". 😅😀 Edited November 10, 2021 by karrotsishere

karrotsishere
The North have really proven themselves to be up there with the South now. With Copy That wins in Cup & SCA win in FFA. On top of S & A Telfers Team winning races since heading South. And Taipo picked up a win also. From such a small percentage of overall starters, Team North UDR is not bad, not bad at all 😄 Edited November 12, 2021 by karrotsishere

I have a feeling we are going to be very busy over Cup week, with the North Island Harness, and Thoroughbred representatives being very prominent in not only the big races, but the minor races as well. Let's get ready to rumble!!!! It was been an excellent week for North Island horses in the group races in Christchurch, winning a good proportion of the races at the trots and very dominate in the gallops. The north looks to rack anyone today at Riccarton, in the One Thousand Guineas, with a strong representation.

Yes , Bolt for Brilliance held up the 'trotters' side of North v South extremely well. Would of broken the NZ '2 mile' record himself running 3rd, from way back of the field in the Dominion yesterday. What a jaw-dropping race that was.?? I was shocked they (Sundees Son) nearly broke 4.00 minutes last year. This year, SS in around 3.56.5 was quicker than Copy That winning the Nz Cup. quite amazing. In 1978, the Dominion, won by Scotch Tar was run faster, than the Trotting Cup. In 1980, when the Dominion was run on a Saturday, a week after Cup week, was won again by Scotch Tar. Scotch Tar had started the week before on Show Day, against the pacers in the N.Z. Free for all, and had showed blistering speed to clearly lead, and while fading in the straight, still beat five horses home.

I remember him winning from 100mtrs behind at Hutt Park.

Seen leading the Nz FFA (won by Hands Down in the end) in this photo. On Cup Day Scotch Tar had run the Nz record for 2600m beating No Response by many lengths. Giving trainer "Slim ' the confidence to take on the Pacers (again) One night at Auckland ,and in his wayward days. Scotch Tar ran right off the track on Wolfie to the outside fence in the home straight . Still won by a length with only his 'Ears' showing in the official photo finish. (as was brushing the outside fence at Alex Park. ) was quite something .
