Maximus
Cup Day is always terrific but I wonder if anyone else is like Max in thinking that Cup Eve is special, too. For me it's the sense of anticipation mixed with many moments pondering the scenarios and outcomes. Is Ocean Billy just another Kiwi hack stayer good enough to win an overrated Kiwi Cup and that's all? Is Incentivise another Might and Power? Can Twilight Payment turn up and just do it again carry a heap more weight? Is Great House classy enough to back up from the Lexus? Is Sir Lucan another Cross Counter? Is this the day Verry Elleegant joins the all-time greats of the Australasian turf? MM

Double R
Hi Max. I thought Ocean Billy showed enough in his races in N.Z. before going to Australia, to be actually worthy of sending. His run in the Caulfield Cup was certainly commendable, and have got him in my three for Tuesday. In my mind he is a genuine chance, especially being in the care of a reasonably rated trainer!!! Cheers. Robert. Edited October 31, 2021 by Double R

Is this the year an Auckland Cup winner easily makes the field? #8 in the book - in past years, an Auckland Cup winner may be thinking it needs luck or a penalty to get in. Exactly Mardi. Perhaps it is indicative of the strength of the field, and with proven 3200 metre performers in, The Chosen One, and Ocean Billy, will give us a good chance to win the race this year. Hesi
After watching this race, Spanish Mission should be a class above them

Hi Max, That is what makes this racing game so interesting, with many variables that come into it, and sharing each others thoughts. Of course, we both hope you are wrong, and the unknown factor of many running out the 3200 metres is the question mark. It is one the boxes that Ocean Billy has ticked, albeit against weaker opposition.
