ROUND 6 - Fri Dec 31

Race 6 - Hastings R8

1st - 13 Blissful Belle W-$1.60 P-$1.10

2nd - 14 Raccourci P-$3.70 Q-$10.10

3rd - 3 Bazooka P-$3.60 TF-$145.40

Scr: 2,4,5,10-12

Subs: #13 then #9 then #1

28 on the popular winning local fave in the last with BB quinellas for Gary, Gordy, Tom, Zac and Rob while Craig also snagged the quinella and BBs on the winner were landed by Punter Pete, Rex, Robert, Maurice, Steve P and Blind Squirrel. Tom snuck past Smiler in the last while Roland ran down Graeme (as he expected no doubt !) with the sub. Rees was the biggest daily winner in the comp so far with a huge score with Ray and Max taking silver and bronze respectively. The top 9 all showed a profit. The scoreboard will certainly take a shakeup from this. Off to Ellerslie tomorrow for some classy racing then the comp finishes on Sunday/Monday with some down to earth grassroots racing in the Wairarapa and the West Coast.

Points after Round 6:

Ray's 2nd placing today has seen him run down Secret Squirrel by one point with another 10 points back to Gordy (11th today) with Craig next followed by chasers Zac, Robert & Jen. Three rounds to go and at a rough estimate more than half the field still have a chance of winning the comp. See you all again tomorrow in the City of Sails.

Geoff, Geoff, Geoff - you've won it buddy - no need for back-to-back trifectas, much less a best bet one ! 26 others found the winning fave with numerous quinellas while Gordy, Richie, Robert, Midnight Caller and Hesi also landed the trifecta. Safe to say if you didn't have the Rich Hill Mile winner you have taken a bit of a tumble in today's final standings. An even dozen found the Weatherley wuffie with BBs for Rex, Ziggy (lobbed into 6th), Tom (late charge to secure 5th), Rob (made the top 10) and Roland (snatched 7th). But it was Rees and Midnight Caller who bagged BB quinellas to fly home for 4th and 2nd respectively. Must have needed that Railway trifecta Geoff ! Maurice got up in the last with the winner to beat one of the comp favourites in Robert while Rees claimed Tom with that whirlwind finish. Importantly Comp 2nd Blind Squirrel got past Gordy at the death with the winner while Ziggy's BB saw him hop past Hesi not to mention Midnight Caller running down the average with his huge late run. The points table will be interesting.
