Lightning Blue
"C" is for Champion , and Nz harness has a lot of those over the years. Cardigan Bay (nominated by Globe) is top of the pop's with his never to be equalled moment of first horse to earn $1mill ever. Changeover (nominated by Hesi) and Christian Cullen (Great photo from Blackie) and Copy That (scoring pts for Karrots) are just 4 of the 'C' greats of the track. Chokin and Christopher Vance gathering wins in Miracle miles as well as Nz Cups (both 2nd in Interdominion Finals too) are 2 more superb nominations. Here's todays clues for 5 more>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Horse 1 . Won 6 Derbies. Now that is a fine achievement . Who is he? Horse 2. You could have bought him to race your-self for NZ$44, 151 last year . Who is he? Horse 3. Photo Clue . This bloke holds a list of incredible achievements . Who is he? Have a crack at naming any of these 3 great horses ( 2 more to follow later)

(trainer/driver Jack Litten in the sulky as FarTooMuch identified) perhaps the greatest ever.???? He blazed many a trail that Cardigan Bay followed a few years later. (through Aus and Usa) Here's a Great Story. When CADUCEUS won the 1960 Interdominion Grand Final , it was the One and Only time in history a harness track was closed by the Police with a full house sign , as 50,000 + patrons, crammed in to the Harold Park Sydney track to see the kiwi wonderhorse Win off his 36 yard backmark handicap as 3-1 favourite. The crowd burst through to the infield , which quickly filled and bookmakers and a mobile tote were shifted inside the track as well. Patrons starting dismantling the grandstand dividers so they could see , and every vantage point was filled to capacity. A never repeated scenes of mayhem . He was adored by Australian crowds as Jack travelled to Aus many times (including Perth 5 times , a long way to go in those days) and on to America for another heap of wins. He could possibly still hold the WORLD RECORD for distances travelled to the races of all time. That photo is at Yonkers I think , where Jack took him to take on the worlds best. What a horse !!! The "mighty Atom" he was called as only 14 and a bit hands high, and finished with 82 career wins and world-wide fans.

What a horse !!! Only just logged in ,but as Hesi said probably should be mentioned as one of our truly greatest. He was the first NZ pacer to run in the Yonkers Invitational series at the ripe old age of nine . He incredibly won the last race of the series but was sensationally disqualified. He never won a NZ Cup, but won 3 FFA, two Inters and a Auckland Cup.
Globederby19
Another C horse is Captain Sandy in the 40,s and 50,s . 1948 and 49 NZ Cups with 1950 and 1953 Inter wins as well.

Another little known fact about Caduceus was his tendency to tie up when not in work, so Litten gave him a gruelling work load compared to most modern day horses. A real testimony to the toughness of the breed, as I said previously he was racing at nine years of age against Americas best.
Blackie
I'd like to nominate Captain Harcourt, one of the first horses that got me interested in the great game. Not for his outstanding ability, (though he was pretty good, 2nd in Stanley Rio's NZ Cup but was a great sprinter) , but just the way he looked, being a chestnut, and the way he used to race, free wheeling with that flowing white mane.
Lightning Blue
Some more great 'C' runners there with Blackie and Globe rolling in with Captain Harcourt and Captain Sandy. No one has picked my horse 2 cryptic clue today from earlier post. 4 hours ago, Lightning Blue said: Horse 2. You could have bought him to race your-self for NZ$44, 151 last year . Who is he? Another clue is the horse 2 won 11 Group 1's !! and NZ$44,151 is equal to $US30,000. here's 'C' Horse 4 today as well , Who is this ? probably not in the realms of Caduceus, Courage Under Fire and co. , but had his moment in the spotlight anyway.
