Happy Sunrise
So they have been to Motukarara and Rangiora recently and are off to Cromwell and the second day at Nelson (with Akuta no less) There seems to be a change in philosophy or is this just in response to the new racing calendar and going to these venues is a one off? The cleanout will occur shortly so making hay while sun shines perhaps. At least they will all be trying. Bollinger, no top liner but a big chance after not enjoying grass track at last start. American Pride heading towards Invercargill Cup which will have a nice stake attached Edited January 4, 2022 by Addington
karrotsishere
You mean Purdon & Cullen as remember as per Boxseat annoucement approx 4-6 weeks ago, no N Ras from 1 Jan 22, with no explanation. Agree with Addy re placing best & cleanout & Bollinger.

Got the Trots
Or it's perhaps got something to do with the fact that both the Cromwell Cups and Nelson Cups are qualifying races for the newly minted Country Championships. If you've got one on the float, might as well be 3 or 4. And there's not a lot else for fit, race ready horses.

That suggests the country clubs might get some good horses coming their way on a consistent basis which would also suggest the new calendar is working. Eg Allamericanlover and Pace and Pride. The only questionable thing is where the final is held, Addington isn't it, a touch boring?
Rusty
Akuta, Cyrus and Shan Noble (sounds like a law firm that trio) are probably just popping into Nelson en route to Auckland.
karrotsishere
No joy for them today, which is a rarity, but from results B Williamson trained 3 winners & his bro also trained a winner.

The 1 race where the commentator said well the punter who put $15k on the nose on Bollinger, will need to go get a stiff drink, (after it galloped).

The Bollinger Special Cuvee Champagne will still be on ice. The JD might need restocking. Another post back in Jan. Funny looking back. Heard M Purdon phoned up his son N Purdon to ask him to return home & go into partnership with him & Cullen. No mention of N Ras. N Purdon has accepted & will head back to NZ in near future.

Maybe the horses need 4 trainers now? 😂 Maybe it is a succession plan, they are so well organised it wouldn't surprise me at all. Maybe, they really have had enough and once the handing over is complete in 2 or 3 years that will be it or they really do go part time. Having such good owners and with so much money involved they can't just up and leave as it will be too disruptive. And the All Stars brand is very important to harness racing (and them too) so I imagine they want it to continue with the family name in the future. Note this is pure speculation.
