Happy Sunrise
I get no new track but surely an upgraded Wingatui would benefit both harness and galloping codes. Not sure why the Racing Club are afraid to give up a little bit of ownership as they would still be the boss. If Forbury Trotting Club can't get a foothold at Wingatui they might as well fold but where will the money go? https://www.odt.co.nz/news/dunedin/no-new-trotting-venue-planned
karrotsishere
The article mentions Ms Leary the local MP. Funny story, positive, politics aside. A few years back in Auckland, went to a BBQ kind of back-yard house get together. Anyway went solo & arrived early. The host introduced me to another friend of theirs that had also arrived early & solo - Ms Leary. So for rest of the evening hung out together while chatting & meeting others. Recall she was a TV reporter or journalist at time as somehow recognised her as being such. Anyway she was nice 👍😄 Edited January 8, 2022 by karrotsishere

Then HRNZ & ultimately TAB funding. Don’t recall when North tracks for Harness use where deemed not needed/closed e.g. Stratford, Tauranga, Rotorua, Te Awamutu, Thames, Te Aroha, (Manawatu - until it got resurrected with mini-meetings - same thing Otaki), don’t recall local MPs of those areas being interviewed for articles. They are doing a review of Canterbury tracks at the moment which just shows how flawed their first go was in 2020 during the beginning of covid to have another so soon. Poor Waimate getting biffed through a rushed and ill conceived process. Geraldine and Timaru were lucky to survive and had to fight for their existence. We have learnt Methven can't cope with too many meetings so through their lack of foresight we have found a few things out. We are always told grass track racing has great turnover so I can't see how their review will change much. Especially with a new calendar just out, you would think the review of clubs would have been done before the calendar or at least alongside it. 1
