Hesi
Does anyone know why this on tomorrow, as part of a card of 9 maiden races???
ngakonui grass
Don't kno but imo i presume it is to give the horses a chance to also compete in the Avondale Guineas that is also coming up. otherwise it could be a short break between races with not many backing up. 1

Yes Correct NG. I heard the Waikato Racing Club CEO explaining that exact point you make in regards to the Guineas being run tomorrow, leading into the Avondale Guineas on the 19th, and then two weeks after, the N.Z.Derby is run on the 5th of March.
