Quick recap on yesterdays racing

Alex P

Nice run by (Lightnings runner) Optical Illusion who finished .3 of a second from winner Franco Mac after sitting parked the entire way.

Self Assured has still got it. Franco Indie nice run to finish ahead of older G1 winner BD Joe. Even with Telfer stable driving couldn’t beat All Star runners.

2yo Merlin classy altho not a fast overall time. $120k purchase by Montana Park, hence Z Butcher driver. My rank so far early 2yos to races which could change at anytime during season. Not much sign of Souths 2yos yet All Stars youngsters haven’t come out again since an initial early educational learners workout. Does the North have all the TOP 2yos? Time will tell.

1 Merlin

2 Seve

3= Frankie Major, Sooner the Better

5 Two Eye See

Winton

@Double R & @Addington what are your thoughts on drive of Fav? Good drive, or no, trying or no? Watched this replay as Craig mentioned Feel The Joy. Whom I watched solely in race. Entire time was thinking oh well at least main danger Hot Fav Play Philly is directly BEHIND her. So will have more traffic probs than Feel The Joy. Final finish result Play Philly 4th, Feel the Joy 5th. Stripes report below - tactics questioned.

PLAY PHILLY - held up throughout the run home only obtaining clear racing room inside the final 50 metres with driver R Close reporting he did not release the removable deafeners as a consequence. Stewards questioned Mr Close regarding his tactics during the race. Mr Close advised he was reluctant to push forward at the start given the barrier speed of the runners inside him so elected to shift to the marker line due to there being only two runners positioned there and he felt it better to race three back the fence than being obliged to race wide on the track. Mr Close added that he elected to take an inside run near the 400 metres when after shifting away from the marker line PLAY PHILLY had become awkwardly placed close to the sulky wheel of NUTCRACKER and at that stage he was reluctant to restrain his horse and shift out on to the back of that runner and lose momentum at a critical stage of the race. Stewards accepted Mr Close's explanation on this occasion.

Simply, not one of his best drives.

I have always thought that regardless of how favoured a horse was in the betting, it should have no bearing on how it is driven. There has been a perception that because a horse is a more favoured in the betting it should be driven differently, because more money has been bet on it.

Racing has many variables, and one of them is pilot error.

Leader board updated. Whose ROUGHIE will BOLT HOME to a $50-1 collect?

Self Assured has still got it. Franco Indie nice run to finish

Self Assured is a ripper. Indie was still doing a few things wrong. Nat should of gone the easy option and drove SelfAssured and jammed Maurice on Indie lol....

Your first Sweet Lou of the 5 won ok today Karrots to get you on the score-board !!  not many wins in your 100 picks so far up above ? r u holding back ? 😉

Hemsworth at Albion got up paying $1.40 and $1.05 today.  Minstrel has missed out in WA Cup for kiwi owners.

TEMPORALE won a heat and ran 5th in the $300,000 'Great Southern Star' at Melton for Suzanne Herlihy and his kiwi owners . A great effort !!!!!

Kate Gath won again !!.Majestuoso this time.... She's like the 'Nat' of Victoria winning everything.

I shouldn't say it but can't help it .... I wonder if the horse is pumped too?   hehehehe....hahaha  (to be racing of course)

33 lengths last & no gallop this time. Poor horse.

BENSONS MATE - paced roughly racing into the first bend and had to be steadied. Paced roughly again near the 1100 metres. Weakened final bend. Trainer C Jones was reminded of his obligation to notify the person in charge of his horse in his absence.

This religious awakening as bought you much Luck and Praise and Reward from the racing gods Josiah. !!  being a 'king of Judah' as given you a gods blessing of some winners and the connections of 'Still Rockin' and 'BeyondA Shadow' will be watching closely and sweating on your prayers continuing ......
