NZ Racing Industry

Recommended Posts

Think its about balance Hesi.

Running & facilitating comps such as Mike & myself did. And the 1, I just did over the past 6 meeting/days. Giving Aussie updates of Kiwi horses & trainers to follow in Aussie & posting results. Updates on new sire news e.g. Vincent, Always B Miki, Sweet Lou, fun chats about who is going to win certain BIG races. Lightning did a fun Interdom thread & A-Z harness horse greats.

Posting news updates on 2yos & updates on Lincoln Farms including horses/ Copy That. Green stuck in Aussie, and their journos reports on Auckland Trotting Club.

The current on-going trial in NY & the backwash that is coming out from that.

Doing Q & A which might start up again on posters.

Talking and posting current affairs articles on doping, which is currently a topic of convo due to this NY case, is just 1 part of my posting.

We just chatted about the Gold winning Winter Olympics Zoi.

If I couldn’t find 1 positive no I wouldn’t post nor would I stay in industry.

Iv said before tho that I most likely won’t get another horse after Sweety Lewie & have given reasons for why.

I see it as some people are worried about the downfall in Harness industry. It may come across as negative. Some just want a fair playing field & some want to see improvements made before its too late.

Sometimes public pressure can result in change.

I'm intrigued to know, if people cannot find a single positive about the industry, why do they stay in it, and why do they bother posting on a chat forum.  It's not going to change anything.

I can think of many positives about racing in NZ

I am intrigued to know why you go to another chat forum and continue to read their contributions, if that's how you feel. Each to their own

And here I was thinking Hesi was talking to me lol, & think Addy thought he was talking to him lol. Oh no Hesi don't go down that road of confusing your posters.

Thanks for the heads up Wilfred, in fairness tho, you have to ask yourself the same thing.

Eg you read here my contributions on Auckland Trotting Club reduced Friday nites, then feed that info over, posting it on another forum.

Lets not forget that the Harness section is currently members only viewing. Those smart enough would have figured out why this was temporarily done.

Right to talk about positive news have lined up Sir Castleton to be my next Q & A participant 😄 Coming soon 👍

Some do Ludwig, see the fall and all those still in the fall.

Your so funny Gospel.

Come join us on the trot chat. Miss ya input.

You see Ludwig it twas me that requested the Harness side be private only for approx 2 weeks. Wasnt sure it would happen but it did.

Why? Could see owner of other site was non-stop looking over here Harness side & attacking posters from here & threatening to attack others from here WTF.

Going back & confusing posters there with randomly bringing up talk about Woodends Beach, Stellar Delight, Bensons Mate. Reading things on here then twisting them around & flat out making things up. Eg a 3rd trainer was involved. accusing Forbs of being our Addington, PLUS MUCH more. Twas quite comical, until the flat out false allegation accusing Enteebee of being the owner feeding Profit & publically naming him & trying to turn his posters against Enteebee WTF.

Hence then thought enough is enough. Time to ask to shut up shop.

So yeah bit hypocritital to call Hesi out for looking at other site.

Oh & Ludwig you were confused when Hesi said he doesnt have any motive.

Not that I think owner of other site does either. Just highly opinionated.

Great way to lose posters when your the one, dominating conversation. AND then threatening others from another site & publically naming them when you dont agree with what they are saying on another site FFS!

No worries

I enjoy reading some of the more interesting positive posters on Racecafe in particular, such as Tasman Man, Gubellini and Cubes, to name but a few

Ha Ha Karrots. You bare a striking resemblance to TV Private Investigator Julia Hartley Moore!😜

I actually have had the pleasure of Tasman Man's Company on multiple occasions at both Alex Park & Ellerslie Races since he has become Auckland based in recent years.

A Keen Racing Enthusiast,he has had Syndicate Shares in the Highest Quality Horses in Both Codes.🤑

What is positive in thoroughbred racing in NZ(sorry harness, don't know enough, feel free to add your own)

1.  Pay out to the code is increasing, not by much, but it is increasing

2.  Stake money is increasing, not by much again, but increasing

3.  The thoroughbred breeders still turn out quality bloodstock, the coming sales will tell you that

4.  We still can produce quality horses capable of competing at group level in Aus.  Proposals were put forward, for a series of races to try and retain some of our best horses to race in NZ, before going to Aus, not sure the status of that

5.  There is still a huge pool of knowledge on the thoroughbred in NZ, amongst the many people associated.  Try starting off an industry from scratch without it.  I believe there are about 300 registered trainers in NZ, sure we lose a few, but there are always the new ones to take their place

6.  The amalgamation of Auckland and Counties, along with the sale of assets, is allowing big increases in stakes, facilities and the laying of a Strathayr track.  Sure, this is subsidisation, but it at least gives a chance of kick starting things by providing confidence in the industry.  A shame Avondale couldn't put their parochialism to one side and become involved

7.  Jamie Richards, the ultimate professional, provides a great image for the industry.  He is going, but Mark Walker replaces

8.  Te Akau, don't really like them, but they are a huge operation, all about thoroughbred racing, and they bring new entrants through their syndicates

9.  Dare I say it, AWT's, they were always meant, so centres like Cambridge, Awapuni and Riccarton could train their horses during the Winter.  They are there now, as an asset

10.  Boys Get Paid, not my cup of tea, but they do raise the profile of racing and bring new entrants.

11.  We can still produce quality jockeys, and the mentoring scheme is a great idea so icons like Noel Harris/David Walsh?, do not get cast aside with their knowledge.  Check the number of ex kiwi jocks riding in Aus

Fascinating...Mr Hesi had already answered my query, so thanks for that baffling rant. Anything for some attention.

So calling me the wrong name, deliberately, as you just did, isn't personal. Double standards

Ok that was completely a mistake. Nothing intentional.

If you want to stay around here you need to change your attitude.

I can't be clearer than that.

You can also try and keep up the presence that you aren't that person on BOAY. I've just seen something derogatory you've posted there about this site.

You're gone. Too much nastiness.

So do i and a few others as well as  they are all invested in the game . By all accounts your a goose if you have any positive thoughts about NZ TB's. Tell that to connections of NZ owned /trained horses who have been helping themselves to Ozzie stakes for decades or current BGP members. And that's only for starters

Like I said again, if you can't see a single thing positive about the NZ racing industry, then you shouldn't be in it.

Some of the hysterical rants elsewhere are pathetic, a sign of a lot of bitterness, that may well be justified, but that has no possible positive outcome.

Stop kidding yourself if you think rants on chat forums are going to effect any change

Perhaps I am the odd one out here, but I am not interested in looking at other race chat sites. There are more informed posters here, than all the other sites added together.

I couldn't care less if people elsewhere are commenting on my thoughts, as in the end, I am accountable to myself for the genuine writings I make here.

All forms of media twist words around, and interpret to there own views. If people are concerned what is being said on websites, it will be pale in comparison to what is being said privately. This is life, and human nature. I respect everyone's views, as it would be a dull world if we all agreed, and being able to ask people questions on their thoughts is healthy for learning more about racing, and being able to see topics from another angle.
