PWJ
Hi everyone. Just wanted to start by saying I am gutted this morning that Shalatin is scratched from the Golden Slipper. I bought Shalatin's dam Arcadia Delight privately from Bob Peters a couple of years back for my Hawkes Bay client Dave Morison and obviously did the mating with Shalaa which produced Shalatin. The mare's half-sister Arcadia Queen subsequently emerged as one of Australia's best mares which made us all pretty happy and considerably increased the mare's value. Trainer Joe Pride assured us Shalatin would finish in the first 3 or 4 in the Slipper but came down with a hoof abscess yesterday and is out as a result. We hope he can recover for a tilt at the other two Gr1 races for 2yos at The Championships being the Sires Produce and the Champagne Stakes. Racing can be a cruel sport sometimes. 2
VC!
The Golden Slipper is a Stallion making event, just to make the field is a breeders dream, so one understands your disappointment Shalatin first race start was extremely unlucky 2nd up was most encouraging, I’m not sure how he would’ve gone on the Heavy track, but I would imagine the Caulfield Guineas and the Golden Rose down the track, would be right up his alley The purchase of Arcadia Delight was an astute purchase, today you may feel a little flat, but I’m certain some very exciting days lay ahead
