Maximus
Fingers crossed for Ashvin Goindasamy. He got galloped on and over by a few horses in that race. Looked terrible. Apparently, conscious probable knee injury. Edited November 9, 2019 by Maximus
Hesi
I listened to it on the radio, as I was out, and have to say, full credit to those handling the situation at Te Rapa. The decision to abandon, communication to the stewards and their assistants out on the course, and George Simon, so he could relay it over the speakers, must have all had to happen within about 40-50 seconds. That is speed of light stuff, compared to the farcical situation we had at Ellerslie 3-4 years ago, when there was an almost identical situation, communication was non-existent, with some riders pulling their horses in the straight, and others riding out top the finish line, having to swerve to avoid the prone jockey on the track, and a few arm waving assistants, having to shield the jockey. Hesi
From the Stipes report The siren could not be used after it was found to be inoperable prior to Race 1.
Sandpiper
At first glance was impressed there were heaps of stewards out on track quick to flag down the runners. On reflection was only because the start was at the 2100 in the home straight. As for the siren, well if you only check it on raceday what do you expect. Fine the stewards $2500 and a 5 meeting suspension.

Good point, although the decision to abort and the fact it was quickly relayed somehow to those that mattered was pretty good The lack of thoroughness by a trainer or jockey, such as the administration of a substance within the permitted time frame would have resulted in severe consequences. Perhaps the siren was clogged up with sand
Hesi
Ashvin Goindasamy, has a broken thumb and a chipped tooth, and probably a lot of bruising. Pretty lucky young man, considering he got hit by the hooves of 4 horses
