BOXING DAY RACES CANNED

According to the Waikato Times,this years Boxing Day races at Pirongia have been cancelled,or as the Pirongia boss says ''put to sleep''.

Blames dwindling crowds,harness racing only,high compliance costs and those pesky Boxing Day sales.

What a choice,a day in the hot sun at the races(with limited shelter) or a stroll around an air conditioned mall with many varieties of food and drink waiting to be sampled.

This so illustrates the reason why Racing has lapsed into oblivion, slowly but surely over the last 30 years........a total inability to compete with others for the leisure and entertainment dollar.

If you can't compete, then FFS do something about it, so you can, don't just let it happen........there is heaps of money in racing
