Another tooth and nail struggle but the turbos manage to grind out a win off the back of a Steve P masterclass - well done that man!

Gazz back in form and Ray and Zig battled well but ran into tough opponents.

Thanks to my opponent Gordy, Pete and the Blues for a super game that went to the wire and could have turned on a last race result!

Now get up you All Blacks!!

Thanks for all your hard work PJ

Round 3 - Sat Sep 24

Race 10 - Rosehill R9

2 Magpies*** (2nd)

- 1 point (unsuccessful Triple Joker play)

Old Flame was never paying enough and Mount Popa couldn't mount a challenge so the table leaders - The Chiefs - held on to win. No bonus points were scored but the Triple Joker-playing Magpies suffered a one point deduction for failing to score a point and they all missed in the last where Lightning Blue snagged the quinella to ensure Man of the Match honours. Richie was Magpies' MVP in what was a low-scoring affair.

The Blues' 3 hopes in the last never got into the finish so the Turbos held for their own successful Joker play as The Blues suffered a one point deduction. The Waterhouse/Bott winner was tipped by Pete and Man of the Match Steve P who bagged a beaut BB quinella at the death. Roland was MVP for the Auks. No bonus points were earned.

The Highlanders had it won before the last where opponents Rex and Tom found the Lope de Vega winner. Tom's BB trumped Rex's quinella (just) to enable Tom to deny a bonus point for the Otago boys for a 4-1 margin. Captain Craig was Man of the Match tipping half the card while Tom edged Maurice for 'Naki MVP honours. No bonus points were earned.

TABLE after ROUND 3

The table certainly got a shake up today with The Swamp Foxes big Triple Joker play taking them from last to first while the other beneficiaries of a Joker Play - The Turbos - moved up a place to 2nd. Despite winning the Chiefs slipped back two spots to 3rd while the Magpies' bad day saw them give up two places also. The victory for the Highlanders saw them gain a place  while defeat for the Blues and Ferdies caused them to drop two places each. The Kats' defeat consigned them down a spot to the cellar. Still 4 Rounds to go in the Round Robin and only a 9 point spread from top to bottom.

1st 10 Swamp Foxes^ $2896.00

2nd  9 Turbos* $4608.20

3rd 9 Chiefs $4171.20

4th 5 Magpies^ $2585.00

5th 4 Highlanders $4045.20

6th 3 Blues^ $3676.40

7th 3 Ferdies $3133.00

8th 1 Kauri Kats $3551.40

^ Triple Joker played

* Regular Joker play

Thanks Ferdies for the match , whist we led for most of it , It was a competitive tussle.

Thought Jacquinot's win in the group one was an amazing win against track bias.

Talking The Everest , unsure about that.

Well done my Highlanders teammates , we are progressing nicely.

Many thanks for your efforts PJ.

Tis the afternoon after, and Max has a dose of the blues after the kittenish performance of the Kats...started with a roar and finished with a pathetic, mewling bleat.  Even the veteran Foxy One was outfoxed by the Foxes of the Swamp. Congrats to you five.
Just as well we kept our Joker for another day, eh Kitties... so hope is still Springing into cap’n Max’s manly chest as the flowers bloom and Larry Lamb gambols in the paddock across the road.

If the Foxes can go from last to first, why can't the Kats? We’ll be back!
