Hesi
7. 1861 is the slowest running of the cup. It was in part put down to a 3 horse fall, but what other factor contributed to the slow time 8. Only horse to win the MC, CC and Cox in the same year 9. First 2 home in the 1938 MC had something in common. Definite NZ connection here 10. There have been 43 NZ breds win the MC, but how many NZ trained 11. NZ breds have filled the trifecta on how many occasions, and when was the first 12. This horse unbelievably won it's 10 lead up races, to winning the MC 13. The race that stops a nation. There was a famous twist to this line a few years back, what is it. If anyone says the obvious, it is minus 1 point

No 13/ Was it when Jean Shrimpton famously wore the Mini skirt to the Cup in the 1960's, and had people stop and look all around the nation (and the world) that weren't even into horses at all ? Yes, well done The legs that stopped a nation, at the 1965 MC won by NZ bred Light Fingers It was the first time since the cup was run in 1861, that the papers did not run a pic of the winning horse on the front page, it was all the Shrimp No hat, gloves or stockings and a hem 5 inches above the knee. And by Xmas, mini skirts had taken over

Hesi
Talking about Light Fingers, by that great sire of stayers Le Filou who stood at Pirongia stud. Just a quick look, but I think he sired more winners of 2 mile races, than either Sir Tristram or Zabeel

Name the precocious jockey-sized teenager who, in 1971, was carrying a very heavy schoolbag home from the bus stop and dropped it as his dear Mama cried out: "Hurry up. The Cup's on now!!!" This is a multi-choice question to increase your chances of getting something right in your life: A) The Show That Dances B) The Foxy One D) Leo Molloy, aka The Jockey-Sized Mayoral Candidate Who Couldn't E) cap'n Max C) Hands up if you know that C is out of order. No clues. Judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The first correct entry goes into a draw for a return slow bus trip to last weekend's Group 1 raceday at Hastings.
