Hesi
A little bird told me that a horse you part own, won today. What a life, and whitebait fritters tomorrow

Some f--king scumbag threw a box of kittens out there car window and she was driving the following car, running over a few of them. Her and the Mrs then went looking for the remainder which they couldn't find. Lowlifes never cease to amaze me the shit they get up too. Barry, I don’t disbelieve you for one moment but I would love to know what part of the country you live in. Here in the South Island, in all my 65 years I never heard of such a thing. Sadly, putting them in a sack and drowning them yes, but that’s the worst. Having said that, sadly drowning them is preferable I suppose, as compared to releasing them in the bush to fend for themselves, which in turn means the death of bird life. It’s a sad s world a lot of humans create, isn’t it? 😪
Hesi
Not good, sorry to hear that Barry Hard to stomach, as we are very close to our dogs, and they are well loved.....99% of the time Only time I've ever seen my son, who was then in his early 20's cry, was when we had to bury our Malamute of 13 years

mardigras
Hastings is a dying city. Napier not a lot better. If it weren't for the vineyards/fruit, it'd be shut.

mardigras
Hey, I've been resident in Hawkes Bay (Hastings area) for 10+ years. Admittedly out Maraekakaho way. But the reality is, Hastings is a dying city. You only have to walk down the main street to see the number of vacant retail buildings.
ngakonui grass
Only been to Hastings once and that was many years ago when a friend of mine had a runner in one of those socalled triple crown races. The Racecourse and a BP service station to get 2 steak and cheese pies which were washed down by a coke were my ports of visit. Apart from that the only time i hear or read about Hastings/Napier is when Flaxmere is mentioned regarding a crime.
Hesi
We did a road trip once around the East Cape, Gisborne, Napier, Hastings etc Stayed at the Mangapapa Hotel in Havelock North for a couple of nights, very nice Found the whole area very scenic, not unlike what Tauranga was 30 years ago. Napier a bit dingy I understand the beaches are very dangerous and not to be swum at, drop off very quickly

Mardigras , I don,t know if I,ve met you mate, I,m a third generation Bay Boy... Yeah no sooner than one shop is closed, it is vacated for a while ...re-rented or sold and knocked over and another built. been going on for years...not exactly thriving...caused by the Warehouse/K Mart/ $2 shops etc with all this made in China Stuff and the internet ... I,m sure Hastings is not the only NZ city / Town feeling the effects.

I,m sure Hastings is not the only NZ city / Town feeling the effects. I'm not a bay boy - was just a short term visitor. It has been going on for years, but it is progressively getting more severe. And you're right, it isn't the only town like that - but probably one of the few cities. It's other less redeeming feature is it is so far from any major airport. I travel a fair bit off shore and having to use that airport to initially get anywhere is a pain in the arse. However, I sold up recently and left. So no longer need to deal with that.

I,ll drop out of the argument after this comment...Grapes/Wineries/Apples/Concerts/Pubs,clubs and restaurants , the spring Carnival. Logs/Containers and Cruise Ships through the Napier Port and climbing property values aint all bad. Weather a plus... How-ever Supermarket Isles and Roads a hazard with senior Citizens (should drop the age) LOL Baz
