Maximus
Comment stoday from former player Vicky Fleetwood include (aftyer saying they would've won by plenty if thyey hadnt lost a player for 60 minutes... “To lose the way they did. Ninety-nine out of 100 times, England are scoring that in that last play. To lose that lineout in the last few seconds is going to be heartbreaking for them.” Well, hello Vicki ...have you considered that in the 'last few minutes' is when one's fitness, focus, tiredness etc come into play? Yep, prob would score from that situation in the first half BUT in the last minute of the game your lineout specialist(s) didn't do their primary job ie throw/catch the ball cleanly. Who knows why? Bad throw? Blurry vision? Pressure getting to them? Doesn't matter. One of the Black Ferns got a hand to it (I think it was Bremner but haven't checked) and did just enough to get in the way of a clean take. Big ups to whoever it was, and to Kristal Murray for grabbing the pill and hanging on to it for the last few vital seconds. End of story. Almost. Another thing, Vicki... which team scored the most tries? Which team showed the most attacking flair? Which team handled the pressure of the World Cup Final better? Which team played without their most potent try-scoring winger for 3/4 of the game after a reckless tackle ended her World Cup? Fabulous game of footie. Congrats to both teams, mighty athletes, all of them. One team had to lose. Shame it was England, but please spare us the "coulda shoulda wouldas". I reckon Lydia Thompson won't tackle like that again. MM

MM Superb game, played with joy and passion, reminded me of what an All Black match used to be like, something that a lot of the rugby watching public seem to have latched onto
ngakonui grass
The BLEATING English are only doing what the AllBlacks and most national teams do when they lose. Didn't watch the game and don't intend to. IMO interest in the womans game will revert to pre world cup numbers. Its not financially viable by itself imo and its drag on Rugby in general will be huge.
Maximus
can't agree there, ng ...its only 3 years to the next World Cup for them. You should make a point of watching the game, even the highlights. Few stoppages, set pieces didnt take an age, and the skill level very impressive MM

Pure theatre, especially the white anaconda, a phenomenon, I don't think the game has seen before
Maximus
I have just caught up with the story of Ruby Tui gifting her medal on the night to a child survivor of leukaemia who was in the crowd (they'd met earlier in the year). The child's family went round to the team's hotel next day (ie today) to return it but Ruby would not take it back. Ruby is a superstar in Maxi's book. What a role model. Take note, some of you politicians and 'celebrities' who think the sun shines out of your own behind.
Bloke
The Womens' Rugby World Cup Is "World famous" only in NZ. The English public would not care a toss. When the Sunday papers come out, they will have 20 pages on Football and if Rugby is lucky, they might get a column.

Go and watch the game NG but remember to pull the head out of the backside first. Yeeesh.

brown fox
The game was enjoyable enough but I'm just glad the second coming of Christ didn't occur in the last week or it wouldn't have made the news.I even heard some clown the other day say stories on this game would carry on for generations.(FFS)

Those dirty old rags like the Record, Mail and Sun are all about football, with The Sun also good for a bit of racing. Remember England is a football nation. The Sunday Times last week had the first four pages leading with the Woman's World Cup Final, even the journo we love to hate added a decent size piece. England mens match got only got pages 5+

In fact, Nelson has had more columns.
