Another classy run yesterday, and it would appear that Roger James has another Derby winner, with the race at his mercy in 2 weeks.

But the question I would pose, had the NZB Kiwi (slot race), be being run this year on the same day as the Derby, what race would she have run in.  She has proved she has the turn of foot to run 1500m, but also appears to be able to stay, 2400m still a small question mark as it always is for 3-year-olds stepping up to the distance.

How much pressure would have come from various slot holders to get Orchestral to run for them in the 3.5 mil race.

You would be brave to take the $1.40 on offer. Agree with your comments though.

$20 Bonus Bet from the TAB for yesterday's inconvenience, which neither impacted on me or cost me any money

Anyone else get the same, I presume it was across the board.  At the number of active accounts, that is over 5 mil paid out

    I got $10.

It is NZ 404 tests vs SA 37 tests, it's a no contest.

NZ should score 500 runs the easily bowl SA out twice, now that the early over kerfuffle has settled down

I tend to agree, you’d think the only chance of a draw is if they pass the follow on or we don’t enforce it.

    Meeting 10-Methven

R1-4 Brianna. Been going her usual honest races lately. This field not strong so she should be thereabouts again.

R2-2 Freedoms Beauty. Solid runs lately down south. Gets a good draw here and has shown enough to win this.

R3-12 Cheeky Red. Has gone well in his 2 runs to date. Tough draw but should be in the  mix.

R4-2 On Report. Went well in his 2 runs last weekend. Manners are good and gets into a winnable race. Can feature strongly.

R5-12 Boney M. Form has been up and down but does have his share of ability. His mum loved the grass and he has won here before.Could be the blowout.

R6-7 Asian Elvis. Has been improving in his 3 runs back. Does have great grass stats and has won here, Can fill  a top 3 spot here.

R7-8 Woodlea Jewel. Was really good in her 2 runs in Nelson. Hasn't been on grass much, and has drawn out,Racing well enough to get 3 in a row in this.

R8-4 Emma's Delight. Has been ok lately. Landed a better draw here so could be thereabouts.

R9-2 Hayley's Meddle. Slightly disappointing last start, but good win prior. Got the draw to be handy again and can win.

R10-13 Royal Del. Just grabbed last time out. Been going well and does like it here.

R11-4 Hey Tonight. Solid win 3 back, then not all favours last weekend. Does draw nice so can turn things around here.

Well done on finding Hey Tonight Mardy.

Yep, I remember Seddon Park cricket ground in Hamilton when can beer was allowed, we built giant can pyramids & I remember falling over fucked off my head into one & pissing myself. Took me 2 days to get back home. I think I had my back to the cricket the whole time as well as we were busy constructing.

    That’s outstanding Barry!

If the will was there at Ellerslie, Trentham or Riccarton, managed, limited BYO on the big carnival days could be achieved

It would also help if there various bodies that tend to object to the special licences only objected if there was a history of issues with the event rather than a blanket objection.

Could not help noticing the huge crowd on course, and the great atmosphere that provides.

Even to the extent that there were a lot of people picnicking next to the outside rail for quite a bit of the circumference.

Question.  I presume it was BYO on course, so why if that is okay, is it not okay having picnics, boot parties and controlled BYO at Ellerslie.  Maybe be not for Karaka, Ellis and co would be horrified to look down on the hoi polloi, but it would be a good look for racing.  So maybe Derby and Auckland Cup days.

I presume the same licensing and health and safety rules apply at Auckland and Kumara. lol

Wasn’t there a bill that went through parliament to allow the smaller clubs an exemption from the sale and supply of liquor act which meant smaller clubs can let people byo?
