Double R
With New Zealand in the red light setting now, and it is back to restrict numbers attending race meetings again. N.Z Thoroughbred racing have taken very positive action in the protection of their jockeys, and in consultation with them, it has been agreed that Jockeys will remain in the island that they normally live in, for the next 14 days. Of course, that doesn't mean after 14 days, it will be all good to go, as it could be further extended, depending how the Omicron does, or does not, become wide spread in the community. I hope Harness Racing New Zealand will consider this option, as if there is an outbreak amongst the drivers, then racing will hugely impacted.
karrotsishere
Wondered how & if Harness would get effected. Saw Rural Games has been canceled. And pods of 100 will be re-introduced. Alex will already be used to Red-Light as already dealt with it. Wonder how long the whole country will last in Red ... ? Here is the latest update on why peeps go for loo paper. https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2022/01/covid-19-experts-explain-why-people-are-stockpiling-toilet-paper.html Always thought it was in general rule of thumb the 3's to remember for survival & loo paper isn't mentioned - can survive 3 minutes without air, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food. Agree, loo paper isn't essential, as in the "old days" we used cut up squares of newpaper. There is always other alternatives, such as pages of books. It could affect Harness Racing if the red light goes on for a length of time, and drivers are restricted to their own islands, especially with some big meetings coming up in the north in the next three months.
karrotsishere
12 Feb New Harness Millions meeting at Alex, was going to be a Family Fun Day - but it will go (family day) & they were going to have a Semi-Official opening of apartments, that will go too. (Both be later in year). There is talk & concern of Omincron getting into communities e.g. Drivers.

karrotsishere
There was a special comp between the 3 drivers who have won 3000 + races. This drivers comp has now been postponed due to Red Light.
