  1. I am going to presume Geraldine TC has survived the HRNZ cull as there has been no mention or hint of it being their last meeting anywhere that I have seen. If they were history surely there would have been something said.

The latest update r B Yole & Tassie racing. Is a new rule has been made, this is to promote intergrity & fairness & participation.

No trainer is allowed to have more than 50% of runners.

So if there are 11 starters the max any 1 trainer can have or have in their care is 5.

Not sure when this rule comes into play.

    Brave decision.

No, I have my doubts Happy.  I think back to the days of Starship in 1987, as a 2yr old. Unbeatable initially, then along came Tuapeka Knight and blew him off the park as a late 2yr old. The Father Patricks are flying but will they have the longevity of the Majestic Sons,  and Sundees Son just got better as he aged.

A much hyped sire Father Patrick, and some great progeny so far , but. !!.

You are not being biased by any chance are you and would you like to declare your conflict of interest? 😉

Well after breaking off the mobile and getting clear air late in that field , this horse is the real deal. Moral beaten . Could she be better than big brother??.

Still 9ff in the Sire Stakes 3-year-old race at Auckland.

High Energy V Sunny's Sister could be a genuine duel for years to come.

The horse I feel most confident that will win due to getting the gun run due to it being a sit sprinter is Joe's rock.with the trail behind the leader I believe it will win.

    Good call.

    Result WIN for The Ladybird

And Gronkowski goes huge for 2nd.

I wonder how the other trainers down South feel about it all.

The Ladybird form 65980 TAB seem to like this form, starts 2nd fav 3.80 - 1.40 or is it don't want to take any risks?

Gronkoski form 80552 TAB seem to like this form, starts fav 3.60 - 1.60 even off a BAD draw of 14 (26) or is it they don't want to take any risks?

Prides Bellissima form 97770 TAB seem to like this form, starts fav 2.20 - 1.30 or is it they don't want to take any risks?

Risk-averse for sure and who can blame them? Makes a mockery of the game.

Happy are we the thunderbirds or are they? Had to google Thunderbirds haha. Found this.

You are clearly a bit young to not know the Thunderbirds.

They are the thunderbirds. They could fly fast. Thunderbirds were actually a puppet show but not sure of the relevance of that fact lol

Cheers Happy, yeah anything over $1.25 is money for jam really.

    Overs by the TAB lol.

The TAB bookie must play cards as he must think having 3 7s in the horse's hand is worth something.

  9. Here is the response from HRNZ:

'HRNZ has received a detailed report from those representing Northern harness racing. Firstly, we would like to acknowledge the passion and commitment to the industry of those undertaking this report. HRNZ accepts there are issues facing the sport at the moment and realise there is a need to assist North Island clubs much more closely. HRNZ has recently been conducting a review of clubs and structures and will use the report to assist in any future decisions we make. We will also be discussing the feasibility of the suggestions in the report and holding a meeting with David Branch and other representatives in the near future. Our aim is to get Northern harness racing back to sustainability at a minimum so more people can enjoy our great sport. If you are still reading and think HRNZ would actually write something like this you are mistaken. Not quite April Fools but close.

he will have a crack on BD JOE for lead

Still fascinated by No Matter Wot being in the race. Her gait is so dodgy. Looking forward to seeing how she copes with intense pressure to her outside.

On a related note, can't help but be frustrated that officials (see: TAB/HRNZ) have put a hard limit of 8 races for this meeting. This week coming there will be 41 races in the South Island and 8 in the north. NI trainers/drivers/owners already hurting & this doesn't help.

Methven and some others often got another race added to their racecard after having big nominations so why can't Cambridge on their biggest night of racing with lots of people attending?

Somebody needs to explain why this is so, come in Gary Woodham to explain.

    Do you think Gronkowski can?

Gronkowski needs to be tucked up in bed 3 back on the inner, then wakes up and sprints with 150m to go through the gaps that have appeared to win by a nose.

    That was the old Gronkowski.

Now I see TAB Form says 'rates highly' from draw 14 over 2400m.

    That is the new Gronkowski.

  13. A few questions, can anyone can answer...

When HRNZ recently interviewed Canterbury clubs about their racing dates, did they also interview the Northern clubs?

From the report, it is obvious the northern racing calendar does not work so has HRNZ been working on the full calendar again with ALL clubs?

Harness is going over the same thing over and over again. How much did they spend on the consultants to do a review for them a few years ago?

Interesting that majority of those partook in survey were owners at 85%. Aging population too mostly NZ European (93%), males (72%) aged over 60 years.

They are the most important group (probably cis-gender too) whether that is trendy or not these days. People usually live a long time after 60 so the continued participation of this group is essential to the survival of the game.

It is important to get everyone, no matter age, gender, race, into the game.
