  1. Pete deserves a break. I know the background to setting this site up originally and it took a lot of determination and heart to get it going. Both Hesi and Pete are to be applauded for their hard work and dedication. Great to see PJ and Maxi stepping up to keep Hesi in check 😜 Look forward to Pete throwing out those value runners, it's a learning process.

  2. They went to the Moon for propaganda reasons in 1969. There was no need to return. Attention turned outwards towards the planets, Voyager 1&2 explored the solar system and still bring valuable information, we have a probe orbiting close to the Sun, a space station, New Horizons visited Pluto etc etc. All these advances and successes/failures have led to the possibility of returning to the Moon. It is imperative to do so if we wish to continue to visit Mars and one day send the first humans. The technological returns on these missions have been vast. No launch from the Earth can be 100% safe.

  3. "In order for humanity to survive and thrive long term, it makes sense to have a permanent human settlement on Mars as it offers us a relatively benign environment. Doing so would require sending tens of thousands of tons of material from Earth to the martian surface via hundreds of huge rocket launches. That’s pretty much exactly what SpaceX’s Starship hopes to do. Here’s where our celestial neighbor, the Moon, can make things better.

Our Moon has a much weaker gravity than Earth, allowing rockets to take off with ease. This was most notable during the Apollo missions, when even a spacecraft hosting two astronauts could gracefully make its way to lunar orbit. Moreover, the Moon lies at the outer edge of Earth’s gravity well, meaning it’s easy to escape our planet’s pull completely if launched from the Moon. Almost five times easier in fact.

If we establish a vast, permanent settlement on the Moon first, we can eventually tap into its resources to launch rockets from the Moon itself. NASA and ISRO missions have discovered plenty of water ice on the Moon’s poles. It’s possible that future human habitats built from mining the metal-rich lunar soil tap into this water ice for consumption needs. This water can also be split into hydrogen and oxygen for use as rocket fuel. Rockets taking off from an industrially enabled Moonbase can ride the lunar interplanetary highway to reach Mars more efficiently than from Earth."

NASA to Stand Down on Artemis I Launch Attempts in Early September, Reviewing Options
After standing down on today’s Artemis I launch attempt when engineers could not overcome a hydrogen leak in a quick disconnect, an interface between the liquid hydrogen fuel feed line and the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, mission managers met and decided they will forego additional launch attempts in early September.

NASA Waves Off First Artemis I Launch Attempt

Following the Artemis I launch scrub Monday from Launch Complex 39B at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the agency will hold a media briefing at approximately 1 p.m. EDT today, Monday, Aug. 29, to discuss mission status.

The briefing will livestream on NASA Television, the agency’s app, and on the agency’s website.

  6. More Than Ready  , a foundation sire for WinStar Farm's burgeoning stallion operation and one of the most influential international sires of his era, was euthanized the morning of Aug. 26 at the Central Kentucky farm due to the "cumulative effects of old age."

The 25-year-old son of Southern Halo out of the winning Woodman daughter Woodman's Girl is the rare stallion to achieve elite status in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Out of an extraordinary 216 black-type stakes winners worldwide, 128 (6% of named foals of racing age) found success in the Northern Hemisphere and seven were hailed as champions, and 90 (5%) were successful in the Southern Hemisphere, with six honored as champions.

  7. “We’re very lucky to be here in Olympic Stables because the stables are pretty big, there’s plenty of room, and we’re really grateful to the Hong Kong Jockey Club for enabling us to train here, it’s a great opportunity,” Richards continued.

“We’re not as close to the entrance to the training tracks as the stables up the top end but we have the luxury of a bit more room here. We’ve got a nice straight swimming pool and an arena, so it’s all about balancing the positives and any negatives really.

“We’re very happy with how the horses are settling into the routine, and we’ll start to get a bit more serious in the next couple of weeks.”

  8. The public is largely lazy and like to just buy a ticket for a chance at a large payout. No need for study or worrying about track conditions or anything else. The charity distribution would also be a positive against the dirty, tainted and corrupt racing industry as the public sees it. Lotto will always win hands down

  9. It is widespread in any industry where you have 'power' situations. Unfortunately, back in the days the racing industry would close ranks and 'ostracise' anyone speaking up. If you want the rides, keep quiet.  Girl apprentices were preyed upon by some trainers. A friend of mine's sister was an apprentice jockey riding for a well known trainer back 70s. She was a teenager and he was way older. He was sleeping with her.

Another woman friend was also a jockey who was treated very badly by the male jockeys. She gave up riding after being deliberately forced into the running rail at a meeting and suffered serious injuries. The powers that be look the other way when this happens.

Hopefully things are much better now though I suspect it still happens

    It fits my breeding criteria

Wilbury by Capitalist out of Miss Interiors by Flying Spur. Strong female line descending from Fanfreluche. Flying Spur also descends from her so Miss Interiors 4x4 Fanfreluche. Mr Prospector 4x4 via son Fusaichi Pegasus and daughter Rolls. Mr Prospector supports the duplication of Fanfreluche lines as he is from the same haplotype. Danehill 4x3 via daughter Compulsion and son Flying Spur.
