We. got primaries in the USA,Russia invading Ukraine,the Middle East ablaze,a break thru with Alzheimers and u turn to TV1 and they are talking about ice creams.Now i  u knowhave to have a bit of light heartedness now and again but this is so typical of this channel..

Alternatively you could say, we know we have a horse that runs well over 1600m, let's go for the much richer slot race over 1500m.  The horse has done well in the 1.5 mil KM 3-year-old race, we will find a lead up race in Feb over 1400/1600m to top it off for the 1500m slot race.

Which option are connections going to go with.  If 50% go with the second option, that is going to have a big impact on the quality of the Avondale and Waikato Guineas, but most importantly the Derby, which as someone has said, the G1 status is already under pressure

 

 

I would say that most years only half a dozen horses see out the Derby Distance so imo there is going to be trouble ahead for the 2 Guineas races as well as the Derby.

six races at Ellerslie with big money up on Saturday Only 1 race has more nominations than the number allowed to run.Even a 1.5million dollar race has only 15 noms.

No ballots will be required methinks unless more noms are allowed.

9000 went to the Phoenix Friday which was not big when you consider it was between the 2 leading clubs

approx 3 people attended the Aces/Braves game at Eden Park(i hope it wasn't being viewed overseas)

A made up cricket game attracted a sell out crowd at the Mount,sort of sums up where we are as a nation of sports viewers.

and yet a fantasy game of cricket at the Mount attracts what looked like a sell out.

omo but i think before going to stud mares that have just finished racing should have a season off before being served.Many mares that finish racing go straight to the stallion,where as i believe they should have a good break.
