mardigras
The BHA have extended the shutdown indefinitely. They are saying there is a chance some meetings might go ahead next month, but I read that as doubtful. https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/239641/bha-extends-suspension-of-racing-in-britain
mardigras
On the topic of the new era for racing, there is a strong belief that things such as the Melbourne Spring carnival (if racing is going), will be run behind closed doors. That being suggested for sport in Victoria generally until next year.
mardigras
If as above happens, that is huge for the likes of the VRC. The four day carnival alone has attendance income that runs into the many millions - just from gate fees. No racing club in NZ will face that level of impact. And unless Australia decide to let the virus runs its course, that scenario is highly likely. Like the issue with the 100th Cox Plate - will they run it this year. They say they don't want to run it if it is behind closed doors. VRC may be looking at the same option, not sure.

VC!
When they interviewed Tom Marquand last weekend he said the weekend just gone will be his last in Australia and he was heading home, they then asked him about Addeybb if he was staying down under to which he replied he was of the belief the horse was going home, at this stage I’m not sure if a flight has been arranged, Haggas commented the track in Melbourne would be too firm he said the Flemington track drains that well that the surface of the rain affected track in the UK would’ve been classed as a slow to good track Things can change as Haggas said this all before they extended the restrictions in the UK he did however mention if they did stay Addeybb would be aimed at the Cox Plate as we know that surface at the Valley has a bit of give in it Edited April 20, 2020 by VC!
