  1. As long as the boffins that did the maths are not the same ones that thought it was a good idea to buy those Chinese companies a few years back that ended in getting rid of them at a huge loss.

  2. Deepest sympathies to you Roland. I only just caught up with the news.
Jen was part of an expanded family of friends that meet each week for a PJ competition.
Everyone knew that when a roughie came in, scroll down and check that Jen didn't have it. Sure enough more times than you would think was possible... she did!
    She will be sorely missed.

I can only see Quinella Will Pays today

The Will Pays was one of the only things I liked about the TAB NZ over Bet365.
For those few minutes before some roughie blows away your treble or Quaddie in the last leg, you can dream of the huge collect you are about to collect.

  4. It was my fault folks…
I have been making good money off anyone playing the Warriors this last decade and made the fatal mistake of putting $$$ on the Warriors this week.
I won’t fall for that one again in the next decade !

  5. Spot on Alan.
Labour and the other activists had everything in place and forgot only one important thing… the silent majority.
They found out on election day!
TVNZ and Newshub are finding out via advertising revenue.

  6. We used to watch the 6 o’clock news every night since… forever.
I can’t remember the actual night, I think it was sometime in one of the covid lockdowns, that I said to my wife “why are we watching this rubbish”.
We switched to Newshub for a couple of days. Same message, different reporters.
Then no more news at 6.
I will watch it one more time in the future, the night Simon Dallow announces their final news broadcast, in Te Reo of course.

    From Newroom June 2022

The two-year refurbishment of the Ellerslie Racecourse has bought Avondale Racecourse some respite, but its thoroughbred racing licence comes to an end in 2025/26. At that point, all bets are off. Newsroom has learned that the owners, the Avondale Jockey Club and their national body NZ Thoroughbred Racing, are already in commercial talks to turn over much of the valuable 30 hectare property to housing.

NZ Thoroughbred Racing chief executive Bruce Sharrock wouldn’t reveal much. “Given what’s going on in that part of Auckland, and Auckland in general, it’d be pretty foolish to think it would be anything but housing,” he tells Newsroom.

“I would suggest it’s an extremely valuable piece of land. There are discussions underway, there is a plan in place, but it is commercially sensitive.”

Sad isn’t it. For the best part of a century Avondale racecourse was covered in sports fields (11x rugby fields from memory) with thousands using it every week and other sports like touch football in the evenings. Now it looks destined to be a sea of low cost townhouses crammed together in an otherwise nothing suburb. Progress ??
