ngakonui grass
Noticed Bonjour lining up at Greymouth R4 #1. Recently sold on Gavelhouse for $1600. Former trainer recommended a "'significant spell" and bring it back" quietly" Obviously those thoughts not echoed by current trainer. Sale was on 21/12/20. Maximus
sometimes a change of physical environment and attitude of trainer is all a horse needs. If the horse is race-fit it makes sense for the new connections to see how it goes. I expect a long spell is what it will get, if Bonjour does nothing at Greymouth. brown fox
Could one of you knowledgeable types explain the reasoning behind racing without hind plates?
ngakonui grass
I thought when i heard the announcement that maybe he had thrown a plate in his prelim and they decided not to replate him but remove the other.. That is a complete guess. I have read of a trainer in the USA who used to work his young horses with no shoes on to give them confidence when touching the ground.
ngakonui grass
Just read where he lost a hind plate entering the parade ring and with it being unable to be replaced it was decided to remove the other.
Maximus
so it wasn't the lack of hind plates necessarily ... mebe just different environment, attitude/behaviour of trainer and handlers. Well done to all concerned. MM
