Hesi
Likely Fields - Rupert Clarke Stakes Day Travis Noonan@TravTurf 15 September, 2019 , ( Group 1 racing heads back to Caulfield on Saturday with the running of the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes under Handicap conditions over 1400 metres. This year’s edition is an intriguing one with the main chances in early betting, Begood Toya Mother and Age Of Chivalry, down low in the weights and on the cusp of making the final field of 16. Lindsay Park, Lindsey Smith and Godolphin will all be represented in the feature, with likely two runners each at least. This is how the likely field is shaping up: LIKELY FIELD- Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes 1 MADISON COUNTY D Lane 110 58 2 BLACK HEART BART B Rawiller 109 57.5 3 BEST OF DAYS (POSSIBLE) 109 57.5 4 MALAGUERRA 108 57 5 DESPATCH D Dunn 107 56.5 6 SO SI BON J Kah 107 56.5 7 CLIFF'S EDGE J Mott 107 56.5 8 WIDGEE TURF B Egan 106 56 9 SPIRIT OF VALOR B Allen 106 56 10 AMPHITRITE C Williams 105 53.5 11 FASTNET TEMPEST 104 55 12 TSHAHITSI (POSSIBLE) 104 55 13 STREETS OF AVALON Z Spain 103 54.5 14 FUNDAMENTALIST (POSSIBLE) 102 52 15 DEPRIVE R King 102 54 16 ICONOCLASM L Meech 99 52.5 17 BEGOOD TOYA MOTHER D Bates 95 52 18 VASSILATOR 95 52 19 AGE OF CHIVALRY 95 52 The other feature of the day at Caulfield is the race with the golden ticket into the Stella Artois Caulfield Cup. This year’s running will be a strong one, with many horses vying for the win that makes you ballot exempt for the 2400m feature. Lindsay Park hold the key with possibly more than five runners in the 2000m event. Key suspensions to Damien Oliver and Jye McNeil have meant replacement of riders for likely favourites Steel Prince and Sikandarabad. LIKELY FIELD- NATURALISM STAKES MUNTAHAA J Kah KENTUCKY BREEZE (Possible) WOLFE L Meech HARLEM D Stackhouse SUPER TITUS C Williams ETYMOLOGY SIKANDARABAD M Dee SELF SENSE MAURUS Rachel King GALLIC CHIEFTAIN D Lane LORD FANDANGO NEUFBOSC D Dunn STEEL PRINCE SO YOU WIN M Walker YULONG PRINCE The good racing continues up the Hume Highway as well with the running of the George Main Stakes and The Shorts with both races to prove key pointers to some of the biggest races in the country. The George Main Stakes will be D-Day for many this preparation with Chris Waller needing Verry Elleegant to fire and James Cummings hoping Avilius can win and get his spring back on track after two defeats at short odds. The race is full of depth with 7 of the 9 runners Group 1 winners and no doubt the race will have a big impact on the Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate markets. LIKELY FIELD- GEORGE MAIN STAKES AVILIUS K McEvoy SAMADOUBT T Clark DREAMFORCE N Rawiller VERRY ELLEEGANT J McDonald DANZDANZDANCE T Berry HAPPY CLAPPER H Bowman UNFORGOTTEN B Avdulla LIFE LESS ORDINARY J Collett ANGEL OF TRUTH L Currie The Shorts is another mini Everest and sees the best sprinters clash yet again. Expect Santa Ana Lane to need the hit out as he usually doesn’t run as well first up as he does deeper in the preparation. Expect Redzel to be the favourite when All-in markets are released on Monday on the back of that fast time win in the Concorde two weeks ago. Classique Legend is the most interesting runner as it will be his first test against good sprinters at open age.
