mardigras
The idea that Group racing should be left to each individual country doesn't make sense to me. Given Group racing is about breeding, and we are in a global breeding world, a more global view on Group racing seems a very good idea to me. The racing industry itself doesn't require there to be such a thing as Group racing. Just because NZ Group racing is falling away means next to nothing. To award NZ Group 1s just because they are supposedly the best NZ has is just meaningless. Breeders want them because they are into smoke and mirrors.
VC!
Imagine if the US Masters was for Americans only Or the British Open was for people born in the UK only International group racing just makes it more intriguing for mine, the fact the Caulfield Cup Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup are truly International just adds interest I hear some of the locals whinging now the Melbourne Cup is not our race anymore the Everest is now our race...... lol
