Season's greetings to all. Hope the time is filled with good times and maybe even a winner or two.
Best wishes to all for a very happy holiday season. I certainly expect to nail a winner or two over the break. I'll let you know what they are in the New Year. You may find one or two more at good prices on the other site as well around that time.

Me too. Barryb and I just discussed this over whitebait the other day.

Unbelievable that you have to 'purchase a subscription' to get an ad free experience on BOAY.
I think everyone has probably worked out who the 63 year old is,even someone of such limited intellect as myself.
I can tell you that purchasing a subscription does not give you an ad free experience on BOAY.

This is more media bullshit. Implying that gambling causes suicidality. They are correlated not one causal of the other. Maybe suicidality leads to addictive gambling behaviour or maybe some other psychological state leads to both. This crap shouldn't be published without sensible analysis and comment.

Hi Mary. Thanks for commenting here. I note your point on the land/venue issue but your submission does say:
NZTR needs to be able to ensure that, when use of a venue ceases, any proceeds from any sale of that venue may be applied in the wider interests of thoroughbred racing, following consultation with affected parties including community groups.
That doesn't seem to suggest there is much leeway on this from the NZTR position and obviously your view is only one stake holder that has not substantially affected the proposed legislation.

Back to the head post. Congratulations.

"Woodbine’s handle during the test period (October 18 to December 15) for the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) rule that limits urging in Thoroughbred racing to underhand use of the crop only was not negatively impacted. In fact, average handle per race during the test period increased."

I agree about the response. Excellent whether you agree or disagree. And very prompt. Big thumbs up to Mary. Nice to think that there are some at NZTR doing a competent job.

Something done to be sensitive to those associated with the horse and eliminate those with a morbid sense of curiosity is interpreted as trying to be non-transparent.
Agree with Pete here. Delayed and then edited vision of reality is not very transparent for mine.

I've visited Peter in Oz Hesi, albeit a long time ago. Had a few drinks with him in Ky too, maybe dinner. Another life. He gets around though, so it's only a skip and a jump for whitebait in Foxton on Friday.

mate that is cruel. The single worst thing about living in Oz is the unavailability of fresh whitebait. As a kid I went with my father on the regular whitebaiting raids on the North Taranaki rivers - Onaero, Mimi, Urenui - and when they were running you could fill a billy in 3 minutes !
Now visits to North Taranaki always include whitebait fritters at the Mokau Motor Camp Store which are exceptional.
Feel free to join barryb and I on Friday morning before the Otaki races. Should have them on the barbie around 8 am. I don't sprinkle dead weeds on top of them though either.

This is encouraging from the Final Venue Plan.
Central Region Awapuni attendees stated they were looking for leadership and positive direction from NZTR.
RACE indicated their door was open to talk to any club about what might happen in the future to grow racing in the region.
Suggested a small group come together to talk about what shape things could take in the region, with Foxton utilised – RACE, Foxton, Levin and Otaki need to talk.- 1

Burnt lemon and three types of stale ciabatta.
Yum...
Oh....I don't do the ciabatta with 3 butters. It's a loaf fresh from the oven Friday morning. Margarine for barryb's diet. Maybe a bottle of Proscetto to wash it down.

Can someone tell me, what is the point of burnt lemon, is this a Ponsonby wank to describe a new food craze
Try it. Much more juice released and it doesn't cool the fish. You can just heat it in the microwave for the same effect.

Brekkie?

I do them HQ viaduct style with burnt lemon if that's ok?

I have a few kilos in the freezer. Could we get a bbq and a few eggs?
-
Do we not get lunch or breakfast or something included in that? Or could we for a few extra bucks? Just a free? drink and a ride in a golf cart?

I had 'Can we contact you' set on. And nothing.
It won't let me change it anyway!

That's a good point. It made me think that I never hear from them either. I've only probably had a dozen or so bets a year with them for years, though more lately. It made me go in to see if maybe they had a now defunct email address, but no, all contact details up to date. I did notice that I have the 'can we contact you?' box blank. That's may be why. I might give that a tick and see what happens.

Yep. The whole process is disordered.

If you post a pic with the bar code as proof, I'll see if I can pick it up for you and you can keep the original to look at for as long as you like.
