Great tribute, thanks Peter
You have been privileged to work with so many great people. There was a certain John Messara in there as well.
A lesson to us all
When you mention people Peter worked with probably the first to plonk him on a horse was my old man who ran the riding school across the road from his school. Then again its always possible the female classmates may have been the main attraction😄. Anyway my father did get a horse from Patrick Hogan before Cambridge Stud began. By the stallion Forearmed it actually started in the Oaks.

Spoken from the heart, well written Peter. I can see the hero angle from your racing involvement.

Rubbish.

For heavens sake. The comment was a quip re being a fan of Hesi. Anyone can see it wasn't meant to be phrased like that. Does anyone have any sense of humour or "just don't understand" or just want to find an excuse to have a "go".

Not sure about your next paragraph as I've never said anything about media criticism in this thread.
I suggest a visit to the liquor cabinet might be of help!!

Whose the other you are fan of??
Anyone in the media is fair game for reaction, criticism or acclaim. Thats part of the job and if they can't handle it then they shouldn't be there. Interestingly a software developer loves criticism because that enables them to fix mistakes. Most people think they are being polite by not saying anything.

High probabilty being Wairoa but Peter hasn't responded on that one. Trees and railing looks like it. Next maybe Waipukurau. Napier Park probably closed down by 1975/76

There are a multitude of reasons folk get into racing, ranging from social thru to corporate investment
The investment angle is simple. Pitch where you want to land.
In Aussie a colt winning a Group 1, particularly at 2 or 3 in the big Gp 1s (Slipper, Derby erc), guarantees a sire career and a sale price of 10 to 30 mil.
In Aussie a mare winning a Group 1 almost guarantees her progeny will achieve a very high 6 figure yearling sale price.
Then you have the social angle from $7k picnic meetings (ie NZ racing) thru to $169k plus Saturday Metro meetings.
The full spectrum is covered.
As far as TA are concerned, surprised they have not yet landed in Sydney, Go Racing have and are not looking back having had very good Saturday successes.
I have no doubt TA will journey to NSW as part of their development, with Vic probably much harder to kick start, but another possibility down the track, satteliting for Vic carnivals from NSW.
Good luck to those that move over to richer racing, in many ways, such a move is a simple economic decision with little if any economic downside
Interesting times, particularly in NZ
Gai WAterhouse set up with Te Akau in New Zealand. Seemed to fizzle out without really getting off the ground.

NO SHOW & ON SHOW ?
Thats what I thought as well. Bit reluctant to say which is which. Possibly On Show on the left. The track seems like Wairoa. I vaguely remember being at Feilding when they ran 1st in one leg and 2nd in another leg of the double probably after this occurrence.

Bugger I thought the driving range might still have been open.

Brooke Henderson used to regarded as strong on the final round. Therefore with only 2 players seemingly unreachable it only takes those to be nervy and lose 3 shots and Henderson to gain 3 and you have a tied ball game. TAB offering $51 on Henderson. I'll take it.

The Womens' Rugby World Cup Is "World famous" only in NZ. The English public would not care a toss. When the Sunday papers come out, they will have 20 pages on Football and if Rugby is lucky, they might get a column.
Exactly.

Midnight,
You must have got on Tommy Fleetwood with a round to go. NZTAB had him at $15 with only 3 shots behind a few players miles below his class.

The horse is Aerovelocity. Won the race pictured as Naisoso Warrior before going to Hong Kong.
Yes you done it congrats.
AV won races in four countries and Group One's in three Most notably Japan. Had 100% winning record in three countries. Paul O'Sullivan rated him the best sprinter he had ever trained and since he was associated with Mr Tiz I'll take his word.

Yep certainly do. Solid looking bay. Those rides across farmlands to the beach would have been a neat experience for many. They put up ugly oil and gas tanks there years later. Just wondering what years were you involved? There is a story about the place after my father died but not the place here to air it though.
