For me, I will never lose my interest, and in fact, there is no better time to be an owner, as the horse numbers being bred is down, so no trouble in getting starts at the races, stake money has risen, so a little more to potentially cover expenses,
Who remembers races with brackets- those were the days Robert

If it looks like a coup and the Press release suggests some have been rolled then it might be a coup. Either way Holden has been appointed Chair The press release has not got an authors name but what i took from it was this part.
There is a significant level of uncertainty that we need to address as quickly as possible, and in an upfront and transparent manner.
Would that be a first in our industry?

Anyone missing winter mid week Forbury meetings?
For all the negatives they always provided opportunities for lower grade horses and junior drivers alike.

Deep South Watch is still alive. Just stating. Stripes report says all his horses had a virus. Nothing more, nothing less in this instant.
I wonder if Vets certificate will be required before they race again.

Not sure if this is true but was told by a southerner that T Dewe's horse were all scratched from the meeting down South the weekend before last.
Anyone know anything one way or the other?

Racing needs to present a younger image if it wants to attract young people to the sport
Correct and personally think he can only get better with more experience.

Just what harness Racing in SI needs at present , young coherent and accurate caller
I thought he did a great job at both Timaru and Rangiora

Unlike Blair Orange/Todd Mitchell a couple of races earlier, she didn't engage in a battle
Hats off to Mitchell for making a race of it and taking fav on. It does not happen enough which is why Harness can appear boring to many people JMO

Yes betting in the background. Maybe the club didn't want people betting, instead wanted them to stand in line for most of the nite to get a drink. Iv had it clarified to me, it was just general admin that had solely just 1 line to get a drink. So say guessing general admin numbers were approx 3000 people & 1 line. Its hard to believe & seems incomprehensible. But Iv been assured this was 100% the case. And apparently all drinks were served in cans & wine wasn't served, so not to be glass on the track for the after party. Which was held on the track. So that bit makes sense & reason.
Wonder what the turnover was?
Well put- given all the other leisure options available these days if you don't get top service people don't come back.

Hello cuties, latest update, Im told survey results & forum feedback approx 500 Northern participants, will be shared this week with HRNZ leadership.
There is a feeling of excitement, enthusiam & hope. Wonder if these findings will be made public? And who will be leading - doing the presenting? Guess Cambridge. Gosh could be ackward, pending how its presented. Anyway wish the North luck.
Ps if anyone hears anything further pls sing out.
Given Chair is from up that way he must be treading a fine line on this one. Also doing the rounds is that he and Woodham have apparently snared a trip offshore to Scandinavia to some conference. Given the parlous state of industry payouts is this a wise use of industry funds if true?

The way things are going Cambridge will be the only survivor in 10-15 years. ATC will be gone and the rest picnic type meetings.
Who remembers Hutt Park and the inside all weather at New Plymouth. All gone along with a few others in North Isalnd.
Thats my view of things.

Rumours are swirling, North Island is not happy with HRNZ Leadership & on top of a vote of No Confidence, they are also seeking their own North Island adminstration.
Every now and then the South Island as a whole wish to separate from North Island . They want own parliament etc. It never happened politically and Harness will be no different. Look at where most of the votes are come AGM remits time.

An update on the above cases from RIB
Racing Integrity Board Investigation into recent horse fatalities regarding the Stonewall Stud of Steve and Amanda TelferDate: 09/01/2023A thorough investigation has been concluded by the RIB staff into the race day deaths of three horses, Cya Doit, Alta Debonair and Seasider.
There is no evidence to suggest that either Steve or Amanda Telfer, or any other persons associated with the horses prior to these races, have either deliberately or mistakenly, caused the unfortunate deaths of these three horses.
The investigation, which included postmortem examinations, toxicology tests and expert opinions from several veterinary staff, determined that these deaths were the result of unrelated sudden medical events.

Star jockey James McDonald is free to ride four Group 1 favourites on Golden Slipper day after having a careless riding ban reduced at a Racing NSW Appeals hearing on Monday morning.
McDonald had a six-meeting ban reduced to four meetings on appeal which will allow him to ride on one of the biggest Group 1 days in Australian racing.
The leading hoop is in line for a massive day with features rides Cylinder ($3.50) in the Golden Slipper, Anamoe ($1.70) in the George Ryder Stakes, Pericles ($3.50) in the Rosehill Guineas and Lost And Running ($4.50) in The Galaxy.
Was always a serious chance to be reduced given what and where incident occurred

Yesterdays Trotting only sale was in contrast to last year a failure by most metrics. As such would you next year include them with pacers over the 3 days or leave things as they stand.?

Doing very well at present which is somewhat surprising given he trains some hand me downs

I much prefer the Aussie driving styles rather than the 'gifting' that goes on locally
Which is why you need a punting premium these days for old style Kiwi drivers like RM and CJDF. Both like to sit back and close late but thats not the way the game is played by most these days

Blair, Tim and Matt need to rethink the game plan when they go to Oz, need a Plan B.
A bit harsh on Blair and Tim but Matt is very one dimensional driver. Gets away with leading down south with occasional help from the bros at times but gets found out in Canterbury on many occasions. Just my thoughts

3 weeks till Southern racing recommences for the season at Winton. I'm sure the trainers down that way will be readying their charges for a few more plunges but will the bookies give them a chance let alone a whisper from The Whale😄
