  1. will have to look at the replay but unlikely that Elliot was asleep in the way you suggest, Hesi-meister. P'raps Desert Lightning simply has a superior turn of foot on that surface over that distance and has been under-estimated - at least relative to L:egarto MM
  2. on what planet does the word 'sew' get pronounced 'so'. Sew annoying, but Max is sew easily annoyed today he's going to put a bob each way on Cantankerous Cat at some dive in the USA called Penn National. Just for you, Jammo! Still trying to get rid of that 'orrible cat smell at the Factory fence. MM
  3. better still, post a replacement pick her her in r3...
  4. Word of advisement/warning... any more references to woofters or poofs (or any other nasty 'gay' business) with respect to Max, Max Factory or any/all within it, will be responded to in kind (or worse). Just saying. MM
  5. Maxi's Specials from the Factory (available for a very lilmited time) Pam, great to have you back, now BE NICE to your KKs poor cap'n Max, none of that Wham Bam Pam stuff today please. R1 5,8 R2 7,8 R3 6,7 R4 1,4 R5 1,3 R6 7,8 R7 2,4 BB R8 1,2 R9 4,6 R10 5,8 BB MM
  6. security was called but the Brindling Thing had buggered off, leaving only a very bad smell. Bad boy, Jammo! MM
  7. just checking to see if the Brindling Thing is/was awake. We know how sleepy a feline can get, esp a pampered puss among those beauties... MM
  8. My word, those four Magic Witches are lookin' mighty tasty (one assumes cap'n Sharne took the pic). But this is no time for goin' easy on the oppo, teamies...full production efficiency is required at the Max Factory on Saturday. MM aka cap'n Thunder

    Billy Boy ...

Max had a bad day at Matamata yesterday, but not as bad as one Wiremu Pinn. Three separate suspensions including one of four weeks for behaviour on STATE OF FEAR. from the STEWARDS REPORT W Pinn (TRUMP CARD) - Issued with a warning after permitting his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of AUNTY CUCKOO which had to be steadied to avoid heels passing the 200 metres. W Pinn (TRUMP CARD) - Admitted a charge of careless riding after permitting his mount to shift inwards when not sufficiently clear of COPPERS which was crowded and checked approaching the 100 metres. Also hampered as a result was JAZZ WITH DRAGON. After considering submissions the Adjudicator imposed a suspension of W Pinn’s licence to ride in races from the conclusion of racing on Saturday 27 January up to and including racing on Thursday 8 February, 5 national riding days. W Pinn (INSPIRED BY ART) - Admitted a charge of careless riding after permitting his mount to shift outwards when not sufficiently clear of EVER CHARM which was checked approaching the 100 metres. Also inconvenienced as a result was BOOM BOOM, HORONUKU and BAMBOOZLE. After considering submissions the Adjudicator imposed a suspension of W Pinn’s licence to ride in races from the conclusion of racing on Thursday 8 February up to and including racing on Sunday 18 February, 7 national riding days. W Pinn (STATE OF FEAR) - Defended a charge in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to win or obtain the best possible placing by failing to ride his mount with sufficient vigour when detached from the body of the field in the early to middle stages. After considering submissions the Adjudicator found the charge proven and imposed a suspension of W Pinn’s licence to ride in races from the conclusion of racing on Sunday 18 February up to and including racing on Sunday 17 March, 4 weeks.
  11. Max is LOVING YOUR WORK, LB ...YOU ROCK! And keep on rocking, keep on taking them pills or woteva...this is GOOD STUFF old son MM
  12. i dont think it muddies the water(s) at all..it gives owners and trainers options for their 3yos. Winning a guineas or a Derby aint the be-all and end-all in thoroughbred racing anymore, the 'classic/traditional' pathway to fame and fortune is gone. MM
  13. if your horse that 'can run 1400m' isnt a product of a Karaka sale it wont be running for a slice of 4.5m. We must remember that these innovations are all about NZB/TAB/Entain and the growth of their bloodstock business and raceday wagering. MM

I would also question to what extent this all draws top horses from Aus They wont necessarily be 'top horses' , Hesi ...just quality performers racing over there having been bought at Karaka. Stake money here will never rival NSW and VIC offerings, and shouldn't. NZ will always be a 'feeder' market to the big boys with bigger populations. What it will do is attract more Aus and Asian investors in our bloodstock - great for the breeders and related services. The crucial thing is that our network of racetracks gets upgraded to provide a much better 'on-course' experience. MM
  15. exactly, mate. Winnie back in the early 200os was heralded as the saviour of NZ Racing cos of a handful (?) of rich races - wasnt the Derby $!M or $2M for a year or two?...the slot race "the Kiwi' is fine as a showcase event for all the reasons we know a la Everest...but Racing NSW has a multi-dimensional strategy that secures the industry's future...can NZ be just as clever? Avondale can be part of it...if they put their egos aside, protect the AJC's heritage in a deal with NZR or ATR or whoever, by selling the land (or most of it) and applying the cash to the industry they profess to love. MM
  16. there are only consequences, Hesi-meister, if you are caught. Same with other, more severe, criminal actions - I don't need to name them. MM
  17. so commercially sensitive that 20 months later no-one is any the wiser...and Winnie is back in charge (sort of) MM
  18. Funny aint it, that we never hear a peep from anyone in charge at Avondale Jockey Club? Who are they? When was their most recent official statement re the Club's future? Speak up AJC, we wanna know your point of view. MM
  19. NZ tracks ARE consistent ...consistently unpredictable, unreliable, unsafe and unfair. MM
  20. Mustelid Maths* is invariably suspect (hence the asterisk), even more so when it takes place UIM - under the influence of Moet. MM
  21. You mean 2pts for not winning the match? MM
  22. Well, a marked improvement in Factory Productivity today. but the man in charge (the silent silent partner here at MF) is lookin' like the receivers have been called in already. Poor cap'n Max has emphasised "the 2pts, boss, 2pts" and muttered something about "other captains wont wanna risk their Big Bad Jokers on us.no more, no more" ,,,but all he does is talk about our being second last, not enough revenue and people turning up late again.. Never mind. The Silent Silent One has flocked off in his Tesla now, so it's party time in The Moet Room. Our heroic late shift manager Lightning Blue has brought his Budgy Smugglers thinking there's a Spa Pool somewhere. Thanks for the match, Old Mate(s), commiserations (esp to Rex) on having the match snatched from your grasp in the last. will those lost four points come back to bite ya? It's early early days ..crucial now that Max Factory is at full noise when we play our Joker(s). Big hearty congrats to Howie and Team Styx on a truly astonishing performance today. Epic. And thanks of course to The Legendary Scorer. Brilliantly accurate, fast and efficient as always, PJ. It's no disgrace to lose to cap'n Max...really it isn't! Now, who wants a top-up? MM
