  1. Geoff (Too Fast) closing in on Sharne (Red Hot). Is an upset on the cards ? It's possible.
  2. Robert/PJ matchup will be the crucial decider the way things are going in the Red Hots/Too Fast 'go'.. You pace yourself PJ …. long summer ahead …. you ease yourself along …….. Robert can take things from here ….. ease your burden. Me ………...at this stage I'm not so much focusing on beating Pete …. I'm more focused on getting off '0'. A spot in the Imperial Army is looming large. Thank goodness for Avilius and Shadow Hero later on …… don't let me down you two ! 😁
  3. Good morning, folks. Unconstrained now by playoff aspirations the 'Far Too Fast' boys are looking now to play the 'giant-killer' role going forward, and where better to start than up against the 'Red Hots' today. Pete and the his fellow 'Red Hots' threatening to run away with this comp now - in today's match alone have opened up at $1.30, and have since firmed in to $1.20. Robert of the 'Far Too Fast' has been playing 'out-of-skin' in this comp - top scorer in the entire comp last Saturday - and looks to be the only competitor capable of taking down the hitherto unbeaten comp star PJ. That's gonna be a great matchup today, worth the price of admission on its own. Geoff, Stevie P, Jack, and Howie completing the lineup for 'Far Too Fast' today - all capable enough on our day - we'll have to be right on our gameto keep the "Red Hots' in sight. I'm goin' with these today as I attempt to match motors with the 'Red Hots' ' head honcho, my 'Mighty Blues' mate Pete :- R1) 7 - Katie Perrie a local favourite who went a bold one first-up for the season, and will go one better today. 11 - Its A Kinda Magic another local, this one will run handy to the pace and be right there at the business end. Under-rated type. R2) 4 - Nymph Monte the wolves are baying this one. Unbeaten on the course, and looks primed ready to put the hooves in the till. 12 - Korakonui capable mare with top jockey aboard, at third run in campaign is ready to provide the boilover. R3) 7 - Tightlign is simply better than these. Not much more needs to be said. 16- Mars Bars poised now to win at any ole tick of the clock. Makes life hard for itself being a back-runner, so tempo will be important. R4) 4 - Jessiegee very handy mare will benefit from Lisa Allpress aboard. Can out-finish them here. 9 - Livin' On A Prayer went close in this last year, and most recent run showed can go one better this time. R5) BEST BET NZ 11 - Luminous really nice mare in for a very good season. This is certainly well within her range. 12 - Joe Cargo proven local performer who will cart them along and prove very hard to run down. R6) BEST BET AUS 5 - Avilius you can count on the fingers of one hand the number of horses going around that are better than this one. Awfully hard to beat. 7 - Homesman class performer who covered the world last time and still only just went down. What beats him will win. R7) 5 - Super Seth Likely to come with one run and finish over the top of them. Unlucky last time out. 18- Groundswell In off the ballot and looks a very handy type ready to do something special. R8) 1- Castelvecchio Will be coming with big bounds the final 200m. Gonna be awfully hard to beat. 2- Shadow Hero The current boom 3 y-o …. has swept all before him and no reason why he won't carry on his winning way. R9) 4 - Widgee Turf Has as much show as any in a very even lineup. Not far away last time, and on his best day will be winning this. Is this his best day ? 5 - Night's Watch You can start to go "broke" following this one. Ok, I'm a 'mug', I'm in again. J Mac has convinced me. R10) 2 - Trekking To have aspirations for better things would need to be winning this. Not the scariest field to go around. 4 - Despatch Shoud get a dream trip today, and hopefully will have the motor to push through when the question is asked. Good luck today to the 'Red Hots'. Your odds are too skinny, so I'm backing my boys today at 18-1. Maybe, just maybe, we can pull this off. The very best of luck to Jack, Geoff, Stevie P and Robert, my "teamies" ….. let's play the 'giant-killer' role well today. Many thanks for this fine comp, PJ. Much appreciated.
  4. Wow ! PJ v Robert. ! 😮. A clash for the ages ! 😊. I have visions of Bonecrusher v Our Waverley Star ! It's gonna be epic. Pete, you're off the hook ! 😊. Now it'll be Captain v Captain. Mighty Blue v Mighty Blue. It'll be fun. Let's see what we can all do. Never been brave enough to play the HTD myself - always scared that I'd take Geoff from a winning matchup to a losing matchup - life wouldn't be worth living !! 😁😁😁 For 20 years at least ! hehe
  5. A very interesting day in the Comp yesterday …..an anticipated day for favourites seeing a canny and ultimately fruitful Joker play by John and the Five-Os against the Longshot Legends 'The Wild Bunch'. That's exactly what we would have done had it been our day against 'The Wild Bunch'. Life's all a matter of timing ...sometimes you get it right, and sometimes ……. 😁. In another match, La Bog poured water over the Dynamite's powder keg and a new Comp leader was born, the 'Red Hots'. But back to La Bog, well done, Captain Rees, after taking the previous match a little lightly and resting Richie last Sunday, Rees was all concentration and focus this week, Richie back in the starting roster, and hey presto, a great result. Personally I would have played Richie last Sunday, Rees, but what do I know, my team is coming 6th and your team is right up there, coming,...well ….. er …...5th ! (thought you were higher than that …. you're certainly trending upwards, Long may you continue to do so.) The "Red Hots' continue to go from strength to strength under Pete's astute guidance, opening on the Tote at $1.30 when the Comp got underway many moons back, and fully justifying the short odds ever since. Next week we 'Once Were Far Too Fast' will be feeling like Canada walking out onto the stadium against the All Blacks when we come up against the 'Red Hots' second time around. The only 'UTR' who will be feeling nervous going into our match-up next Saturday will be Captain Pete up against '9-in-one-blow' Robert -yesterday's comp supremo #1 and an absolute legend for the 'Far Too Fast' all campaign, far and away our most successful player this time around. I remind anyone interested that Robert was the last player in to the 'Far Too Fast' lineup, being picked up well in to the draft at somewhere around 25 of 32 from memory - and he's been absolutely sensational. One thing for sure, he won't be 25 next time ! Sleep well this week, Pete. 😁 Hearty congratulations to Maxi and his 'Animal Kingdom' yesterday, in front most of the day and wrapping up the deal in Comp R9 with 'Kings Will Dream' . Maxi had warned me at the start of the day that he had avoided the favourites because he had a longshot (or two) that would see victory snatched from defeat somewhere along the way, and sure enough ! 😊…...he left it late …...but R9 …… it came ! Life is all about timing …. I backed 'Kings Will Dream' at its previous start, enjoyed a dream trip in transit, the gaps came 300m from home ….. and it promptly fell in a heap ! figuratively speaking. 😔. Just goes to show, you've gotta follow your money. Anyways, great stuff the very astute Maxi and the 'Animal Kingdom', for whom Moose I note is also doing very well this campaign. Best of luck as your team progresses towards the Play-offs. You're doing well. Still with me, Rees ? 😅 This one's a little longer than usual. You better grab a coffee and put your feet up. La Bog can do without you for a few minutes, surely. My friends and colleagues Robert, Geoff, Stevie P, and Jack - the optimist in me says we can still wreak some havoc in the rounds that remain to us. We're holding out for that. Realistically though - our chances of making the layoffs have been … and gone. 😮. Playing now for pride and we have plenty of that so looking forward very much to the remaining rounds. Wouldn't it be a great coup if we could knock off the 'Red Hots' this coming Saturday ! Where Robert leads us this Saturday we will follow closely behind. Surely. Bring it on, baby, we've still got some rock'n'rollin' to do yet ! 😁 PJ ….. 9 from 9 in this comp ………..team stalwart …... legend ! Jack …..you know what you gotta do ! 😉 You're the only one standing between PJ and a perfect '10'. Let's show PJ and the 'UTR' we can be Far Too Fast again. Thanks again for your accurate scoring and timely, lively updates again yesterday, PJ. Much appreciated by us all. Next week, people. See you then. Enjoy your week.
  6. Jen, Roland and Gee with a combined aggregate $20 …. a day for favourites as it always looked like it would be - the perfect day for John to have played the Joker for the Five-Os. Richie again scoring well for La Bog …. he would have been useful last Sunday - whaddya reckon, Rees ? 😉
  7. 'Far Too Fast' now starting to score points in each match, so working into the match nicely now from the 800m mark - will be right there at the business end. 10 points from an inspired Joker play within the next few rounds will propel us into the Top 4, and right into the playoffs. 'Animal Kingdom' are a reasonably useful outfit from time-to-time - they're not completely out of this today, so us 'Far Too Fast's will need to proceed with a degree of caution. My own opponent Captain Maxi is due a good one, and there is no doubt I'll have a real task ahead to withstand the Maxi challenge. I'm seeing these as being the ones today :- R1) 6x8 Swords Dream x Malik R2) 1x6 Catalyst x Checkers R3) 2x7 Aim Smart x Ignored R4) 9x10 Vernanme x Melody Belle R5) 1x2 Funstar x Probabeel R6) 7x11 Best Bet NZ Sir Nate x Starrybeel R7) 1x7 Santa Ana Lane x Sunlight R8) 5x15 Gem Song x Cascadian R9) 4x6 Best Bet Aus Mystic Journey x Finche R10) 14x15 Attention Run x Scarlet Dream The best of luck today to my "teamies" Geoff, Robert, Stevie P & Jack. I've got a good 'vibe' about today. We'll win this, and win well. I hope you get amongst them today too, Maxi. Thanks, PJ.
  8. Maxi …. I believe that Paul is Harewood … and I see selections for Harewood on Pg 1.
  9. Picks for Jack today (FarTooFast) . We can't have Ray with a "freebie" …. would spoil his afternoon 😊 Thanks, PJ R1) 1-4 R2) 3-4 R3) 4-5 BB NZ R4) 1-12 R5) 3-6 R6) 3-8 R7) 2-13 R8) 8-13 BB Aus R9) 8-11 R10) 6-17
  10. 'FarTooFast' waiting for Jack to arrive. I have a set ready …...

The best of luck to you today, Brian. Go well my "teamies" Geoff, Robert, Jack & Stevie P. We went close yesterday. We'll close the deal out today. Many thanks, PJ.
  12. Thank you very much for the scoring and updates today, PJ. Top performance as always. We 'TooFast's were sailing along nicely today, even out to 5-0 up at one stage, but came unstuck mid-programme in two races (Aigne / Mister Sea Wolf) that were to prove decisive for our rivals the 'Dynamite'. Certainly hearty congrats to 'Dynamite', proving why they are right at the top of the charts. Even when things were getting sticky for them they showed that champion quality of being able to tough it out and get in the decisive strides when it counted. Great jobs from our Stevie P and Geoff today, big, big contributions that were crucial in us 'TooFast' managing 2 competition points even in defeat. These guys are really hitting their straps, and I can see a much-improved outcome from the 'TooFast's in the second round of this fine comp. So watch out you others ! Wheeze a comin' for ya ! 😁 Good luck tomorrow, everyone. Don't forget to put the clocks forward if you're in Kiwiland. Thanks again, PJ.
  13. Good morning, folks. Firstly, a reminder to our 'TooFast's that we play again tomorrow ! Sunday. We'll see you all then as well as today. Please come with many winners, as our points bank is presently somewhat problematic. 😊. Secondly, we've got a few scratchings today - we 'TooFast's will run with the TAB Sub in each instance unless our teamies get in by 11.00am to replace anything that they've had scratched. Big match today for us 'TooFast's - coming up against the present Comp leaders the 'Dynamite' - clearly very useful performers and I'm expecting them to be right there at the business end of proceedings today. Good luck to Stevie N, my opponent, I'm currently on a hot streak 3 from 3 after dropping my first three matches - I'm expecting to give you a good run for your money today, Stevie. I'm swayed towards these, today :- R1) 4x6 Blackmagicwoman x Mont Ventoux R2) 11x14 London Express x Mars Bars R3) 1x5 Secret Squirrel x Red Forest R4) 3x4 Lilly Thunder x Polly Grey BEST BET NZ R5) 6x8 Grinner / Where Are You R6) 3x5 Gem Song / Noire R7) 5x7 Enticing Star / Dyslexic R8) 9x10 Gayatri / Dabiyr R9) 2x8 Bivouac / Yao Dash R10) 1x2 Just Thinkin' / Shadow Hero BEST BET AUS Enjoy your racing today, everyone. Thank you very much for this fine comp, PJ. There are some fine selectors here doing very well, and you're probably best of the lot, PJ ! Does that earn us a bonus point ? 😄
  14. Well done Pete and the 'Red Hots' ….. carrying on your winning way and too good today, though we TooFasts gave you a pretty good run for your money. Great tipping today, PJ. Again ! Things can turn on a dime, as my friend Rees will easily attest to. I recall back in the Draft Draw I selected Geoff right at the start and was hanging out to nab my second selection PJ. I was drawn at number 12 to make my second selection and number 10 came and went and PJ still not picked up ! I was rubbing my hands with glee, I was adding PJ to the stable. Surely. Then along came Pete at draw 11. And the rest is history ! 😁 Go the Mighty All Backs. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, folks.
  15. The Red Hots with multiple opportunities to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in the last. Me ….. I'll be cheering on PJ's 1 & 3 ! 😁
  16. Bring it home, PJ ! Would be a great reward for a legend who has given so much comp pleasure to so many each Saturday for a dozen + years ! Come on 1 & 3 ! Do your stuff ! For PJ !
  17. The very best of luck to Comps Head Honcho and Legend, PJ, and Virgil, longtime top selector - both going for a magnificent 10 from 10 ! What a feat that would be. It's been done before ….. but not often. 😁 By my reckoning, we're looking at 1 or 3 or 12 to do the business for these tipping geniuses.
  18. I wrote down Swords Drawn to go with Callsign Mav on the Selections Thread, so would have had the quinella ……. except I wrote down the incorrect number for Swords Drawn - wrote 3 instead of 4. 😥 So thank goodness from my viewpoint that Swords Drawn didn't win …. and that the quinella only paid $10 (even with the winner paying $7). Still … you can't play the 'Red Hots' and expect to win when you're making schoolboy errors. grrrr. …………..😊
  19. Scratching Replacements for Geoff today, 'Just Plodding' - 'Farttoofast' Comp R5 4-Flit is out, replaced by 7-Subpoenaed Comp R7 4 & 9 are both out, replaced by 3-Pierata & 10-Graff Thanks, PJ. 10.59am
  20. Good morning, folks. Beautiful Spring Day in Auckland City …. great day to watch some good racehorses both sides of the Tasman, and tonight watch the All Blacks defeat a revitalised Boks outfit. Massive challenge for the usually far too fasts today, stepping up to Grp 1 company against the red hot comp favourites the ' Under The Radar - yeah - right ! ' contingent 🙂 . The only shorter odds you'll get today than the 'Red Hots' are Melody Belle and Libertini - demonstrating the big challenge ahead for us too fasts. I'm up against Wrinkles today, and I was in a team once with Wrinkles when he was simply superb, so I'm expecting the toughest of opponents. Good luck, Wrinkles. Plenty of study has gone in today, as a result of which I'm going with these :- R1) 3- Peso 4-In A Twinkling R2) 3-Swords Drawn 10-Callsign Mav R3) BEST BET NZ 2-Motivation 11-Ladylax R4) 1-Aretha 11-Birdsong R5) 5-Funstar 6-Let It Pour R6) 1-Shadows Cast 2-Wyndspelle R7) 2-Redzel 3-Pierata R8) 1-Happy Clapper 2-Avilius R9) 5-So Si Bon 8-Widgee Turf R10) BEST BET AUS 11-Beauty Bolt 13-Fascino Good luck to Pete and your Red Hots - you ain't the Red Hots for nothing - top selectors and excellent form - fair to say we're hopeful more than confident. Big day, Geoff, Stevie, Robert & Jack. Let's see what we can do to stamp our mark on this comp. A big thanks to you for this comp, PJ. Enjoy your racing today, everyone. Still with me, Rees ?? 😁
  21. PJ ! Oh no. ☺️ PJ's the form player out of the entire comp. I think I read somewhere PJ saying he's got some sort of Open Day on this coming Saturday at the stud, so you might need to reconsider, Pete. 😉 Still ……… it looked a good plan, momentarily. I'm sure you're capable of coming up with another bright idea before the week's out, Pete. It's what Captains do. 👍
  22. I usually pass the 'post-match' comments duties over to Just Plodding in the rare instances when we 'TooFast's have momentarily been TooSlow …. but Just Plodding told me to 'man up' ...so here I am ! 😊 Firstly and most importantly, congrats to Captain Rees Mainwaring and his intrepid band of La Bodega (see...I studied Russian ...I can pronounce these foreign names 😃) stalwarts, a solid victory after they laid it all out on the line . A bold and cunning plan, ultimately successful, that took me and no doubt my team-mates completely by surprise, so well done you La Bodega for stepping it up, mixing it up to put yourselves back in with a shot at the Top4 for qualifying for the finals. Yes there is still a long way to go until the end, but the backrunners (of which we are one) have a real job ahead to put ourselves into contention, so there is no doubt thinking outside of the square is a very valid option, so very well done La Bodega. In fairness, we 'TooFast's had our `chance …. I thought we were right in it at the conclusion of Comp R6, but then Spanish Whisper at $7+ with all five of the La Bodega on it took the wind out of our sails and we ended up just plodding from there to the finish, albeit a great late run from our Stevie P to swipe 2 points off the La Bodega in Comp R10 … 2 points that could prove critical in the final analysis come November. Gulp ….. next week we 'TooFast's come up against Winx !!!! ……. or Winx's lookalikes … the 'Red Hots'. Hasn't that PJ been absolutely "on fire" in this and several recent comps.👍 ! Just this one Saturday I wouldn't be completely averse to Geoff emailing through the wrong week's racebook to PJ. 😊 These are desperate times. Try and think outside the square ,Just Plodding, like Captain Rees. Opening market has us at 65-1 against the 'Red Hots', and that would be a pretty fair reflection. Am 100% sure we won't be seeing a "one in-all-in" strategy from the 'Red Hots' next Saturday, because why would they ?, they're all legends in their own right and as a team nigh on unbeatable. One has the feeling they just have to turn up to win, surely ………...but then ….. HOLD THE BUS ! …………. didn't some thing come in yesterday at 89-1 in the big 'go' at Flemington ! Yes it did ! And that thing will next week have the name 'FarTooFast' written all over it. Yes, Rob, yes, yes, yes ……..we 'FarTooFast' candoosit !! 😁 (sorry about the breach of copyright, Rob) ….. just maybe, we 'FarTooFast' can dare to dream. Just Plodding will be Just Unbeatable …. and the rest of us will get in behind him with a string of $10+ winners. Yes we absolutely candoosit ! 👍 So watch out Captain Pete, PJ, and the rest of your intrepid band of 'Red Hot' legends. 😃 Us 'TooFast's are a-comin for ya ! Everything to gain, nothing to lose. Beware the ones you never saw coming. Still with me, Rees ? I'm startin' to doze off myself, actually. Where's the coffee ??….. Just Plodding's on coffee duty ….. JUST PLODDING !! …. where's the Captain's coffee ?? ! 😁 Again, hearty congrats to the 'La Bodega'. Enjoy your week everyone. And to my friend 'Wrinkles' of the 'Red Hots', my opponent this coming Saturday, study hard young fella ...I'm on a bit of a roll now, so you better tread warily. You're one of the good 'uns Wrinkles, I look forward to our match-up. Cheers all.
  23. cor Rees …. you're gettin' jumpy … trigger-happy. Still hours to go until close-off time. I've scheduled in a half-marathon between now and comp R1. Keep with us, Rees ….. you'll be fine. I can lend you some of my tablets 🙂 …. though I guess that sort of thing is frowned upon I guess. If all else fails, The Bandito could save the day for La Bog. Maybe. Those Zeds could have something to say about that, though. 😁
  24. oh yes …. so they are. Strategizing ! Who would have thought it of you, La Bog ! 😁 Could well come off. We'll see. 🙂
  25. At first glance, Richie's selections for 'La Bog' and Paul's selections for 'La Bog' appear absolutely identical. Are they twins ? 😀
