Not defending them, just pointing out, that as you say a lot of money has been spent with good intent (why would it not be) but something has gone badly wrong.

I'm pretty sure heads will roll, and i think the main one will be Bruce Sharrock, even though he probably had little directly to do with Ellerslie

This is what Liz asked over on Race Cafe

Where has Bruce Sharrock gone too?

He's the boss but never has anything to say.

Even the few "news releases" appear to be written by Darin Balcombe from what I can see.

    Just wondering.

Maybe Hesi and her are secretly talking!

  2. Someone must have accidentally pointed your irrigation in the direction of your (Foxton) rain gauge.

Aren’t you now based in Rangiora?

  3. Curious, you are doing it to me again......... Levin is 12 minutes down the road and the official Rainfall for there for the last 30 days is 29.4 mm. [One whole month]

Yet you are trying to tell me that Foxton has had 116mm in the last 8 days!

I haven't read about any localized weather bomb hitting Flaxtown, have you?

    Foxton weather in April

    Temperature April 13.8°C | 56.8°F Precipitation / Rainfall April 116mm | 4.6 inches
    Temperature April max. 17.2°C | 63°F
    Temperature April min. 10.9°C | 51.6°F

    What year was that?

What myth? 116mms this month. Probably a G4 tomorrow.

    Are you serious?

Are you saying that there has been 116 mils of rain this month, That is in the last 8 days?

    I don't believe you!

Yes, I do expect that the track will improve overnight to a G4, but it is S5 today.

Lovely day here on the Kapiti Coast hence my agreement with you about an improvement for tomorrow.

Would you put money on it?

Tracks like Ellerslie, Awapuni and Foxton coping with 9 inches of rain over a 24 hour period.

Ellerslie will, there is no doubt.

The new Awapuni track not so well, as it's not a StrathAyr track. It is simply a standard track with better drainage, sand slitting and a sand carpet like Te Rapa.

Foxton not a hope as there are other factors at play.

We have hardly had any rain for weeks yet Foxton is soft for tomorrows trials. Whilst I love my horses trialing there, Leggy/Curious and mates have created the biggest myth in racing around Foxton.

I'd certainly be surprised if they didn't come home with a mil+. I remember David poring over the turf digest in our school days. Lifetime passion and great to see the little guys' dreams come true. Best of luck to them.

Curious, so you are a Christ’s boy?

I knew it began with the letter R then the full effect of 2 Starbucks coffees  took hold.

I wouldn't admit to even thinking about drinking a Starbucks coffee, that's how bad they are, at least in America, and because of that, if there are Starbucks sites in NZ, I don't know where they are and nor do I care.

Yes that sentence is too long and a lot of woffle you could say.

Maybe I caught it from the NZTR news releases about faulty tracks.

On the sub subject of racecafe postings whatever has happened to the bunch of posters there viz. the mayoral candidate as well as his postings (abuses)?

Gone thank god and the site is 500% better for it.

  10. The majority of the races on Easter Saturday are only 40k each. It might be a Te Aroha day but it is at Ellerslie and it is Easter Saturday.
Poor programming by “the powers that be” in my opinion.

Here is a letter 3 yrs ago I sent the NZ TAB

    TAB NZ

    Attention: Simon Thomas

    Good Morning Simon

I am writing to you to voice my displeasure at my treatment around betting restrictions placed on the above account. These restrictions have only come into force in the last week with zero communication about it. I have had this account for 30yrs trouble free with you.

I have raced 25 plus horses in NZ over the last 15yrs & currently still have 2 located in the South Island in work. All my horses have been located in the lower North Island or Christchurch in my support of provincial racing,  in owning these horses it has provided you with a product to profit from over the yrs. My treatment by the TAB is poor when this is taken into account.

I understand the TAB is a business & commercial decisions are to be made, but surely my small bets & winnings are not bank breaking for the TAB. In Australia bookmakers are forced to provided bets up to $2k in winnings, I realise this ruling doesn't apply to NZ but with the monopoly situation you enjoy you do have an obligation to provide.

Your current ad campaign is hard hitting about being loyal to the TAB & backing the home team, decisions like you have made toward myself forces the decision to take up offers overseas & will encourage me to promote this to offers.

These sorts of restrictions are at odds with the $100k plus fixed odds bets you are willing to take from BGP.

Please reconsider your decision to heavily restrict my account & advise accordingly.

    Regards

    Barry

    Barry,

Thank you for publishing the above letter.
I apologise for doubting you or your punting ability.
More importantly, I am thrilled that not only are you a punter, but also an owner of a substantial size.
Supporting the CD and the SI is very important to myself as well.
Keep up the good work and thank you for putting me in my place.
    Cheers,

Why should anyone have to come on here and prove they're successful?

    Will you?

    Pete,

Let's be fair about this. Nearly every time someone posts something on this site Curious and others regularly say...Where is the data or something to that effect.

With regard to me proving how successful I have been in the racing and breeding game, no I am not going to publish that on this site or any other.

However there are a few on here who regularly tell us how successful there are at punting, but of course without the proof.

I am really only playing the game of others.

  13. Guys’ obviously on the subject of weight having an influence on the outcome of a race, most of you on this site disagree with me although Curious seems to be backtracking but I will give him the benefit of the doubt and say that I got it wrong and he is on my side.
That is great because if anyone is a data man it is him.
Therefore Curious’s data and my commonsense out-ways all the crap that the tight 3 have to say.
Cheers guys. Enjoy tomorrow’s outstanding racing.

Point me to a post where you got that impression.

Curious, I haven’t got the time to scroll through the hundreds of your postings on both channels to prove that you are right and I am wrong.

I will simply say that in any race, weight does have an influence on the outcome-leaving aside all the other factors.
Do you agree with me or not on the above statement?

  15. 29 minutes ago, curious said:

I don't think anyone is suggesting that weight doesn't have an effect. You don't need a science degree to know that if you run 100m, then run it again carrying a sack of spuds, which time will be the fastest.

The question from a punting perspective though is does a 2-5kg weight difference have an effect on time.

The data in the above article says it doesn't.

Isn’t that an about face by most of you?

Tell us all what it is then?.

How much & over what distances, I obviously am missing something since I don't consider it. Based on your intelligent posts on the topic I need to incorporate it, but my PC needs actual specifics to be able to interpret it.

    Please enlighten us all.

Looking at the above post, never has a truer word been uttered.

lol, your head is so far up this guy's ---- that he could tell you the Holocaust didn't happen or man didn't land on the moon and you'd probably come up with some inane crap like this to support his viewpoint 🙂

    Brilliant

How would you know, ? probably, probably not. Hypothetical question, unanswerable in the extreme. Does this strengthen your argument for  weight making a difference, I doubt it.

    Unbelievable!

I am dumbfounded with that stupid response.

Are you telling us she ran faster because of the 51kg?

I’ve been off air for the last 24 hours hence the slow response.
    No I am not.
What I am saying is that she couldn’t have run the same time with 5kg more.

Anyone who can’t understand that is thick.

    Cheers all.
