Why only single him out...there are many big buyers in the SH why do you choose only to focus on him????Is there a reason???

Probably because he’s the biggest and boldest.

What was the problem with John Key attending, he is a sport and racing man.  He had a winner today in Volare

The problem was, he didn’t attend. I guess that he was always in Hawaii at that time of the year.
It’s true that as a lad in ChCh he did spend time working in a trotting stable, Ces Divine’s if my memory serves me correctly.
As for having an interest in racing since, it’s about the same as mine in the All Blacks, minimal 🤭

Further to this, I note Chris Hipkins will be attending Trentham on Sat

That's a good start. The prime Minister's of the day, always attended Cup Day until John Key came along, then it all stopped.

Helen Clark for example never missed a Cup and before her even the hapless Jenny Shipley always attended.

    Can't agree

2 weeks after the Derby, same day as the Oaks and Rosehill Guineas

The only horses it will attract are second tier horses, not good enough to take to Aus, or unlikely to stay the 2400m

Any impressive Derby runners will go to Sydney for the Rosehill Guineas as a lead up to their Derby

Staying 3 year old fillies with a good turn of foot will go to the Oaks

Horses that are clearly good 1600m horses as Legarto may be, will have long gone to Aus

If I had a top class 3 year old, which is the way the breed has been developed lately and wasn't going for either the Oaks or Derby I don't think that I would be running off to Australia at that time, when the Levin Classic is worth $350,000.

That's a damn good stake for a 3 year old miler in the Autumn.

And if you think the scheduling of The Concorde is bad, have a look at the way they have shagged about the Levin Classic(Bayer)

Given this years outstanding crop I think that they may have fluked the placement of years Levin Classic.

Given that they get a good surface for the race, I think that it will be the race of the year, so long as the majority don't fall by the wayside.

  6. Best group of Three Year Olds in years.

Pete saying that Sharp N Smart being a good yardstick is spot on.

    Vanturk mentioning Lickety Split too.

Anyone who doubts this years crop is sadly out of touch in my opinion.

  7. Gee whiz I just popped in to try the site again, give it a bit of support, but sadly after this thread I am off back to RC for so sense and sensibility. [At least for a wee while}

  8. Max for my threepence worth, the idea was great but something didn't quite work out.

Probably having to invest "all winnings" week after week was always going mean that no one got through to the end!

Rework the rules/thinking and have another go.

In the meantime join in the Charity competition on Race Cafe as it has another two weeks to run.

    Cheers

  9. Hi Max,

I know the rules say that the bet must be on the designated meeting but with all the rain around I have no confidence betting at Pukekoke, so instead have spent the funds from last week $40.00 at the Gold Coast on a horse that I have a share in. I know that this excludes me from winning the overall prize but retaining my stake & winnings for my charity are what it's primarily about.

    Good luck Max and everyone.

Which deaths did Opie cause?, I seem to recall all riders fine & Allpress riding the next day.

Thank God it was on a very heavy track and not the all-weather as the outcome would or could have been very different.
They say hitting the deck on the all-weather is like hitting a road.
Oh and isn’t that how they are constructed?

The penalty was sufficient for the ride, had he corrected it earlier, the horse wouldn't have won & he would have been fined for not riding it out.

    What absolute crap.
I am amazed that anyone who knows racing or the rules would think it let alone say it!

Received this email from the TAB this week....

    Hi Raymond,

The TAB regularly reviews the betting activity of its customers. We have decided to remove your eligibility for TAB promotions.

Bets placed through your TAB account will no longer be eligible for TAB promotions (and you will not receive any free bets from TAB promotions). However, any bet you have placed before the time and date of this email will still be eligible for any relevant promotion.

This position may be revised if future reviews show a change in betting activity.

For the avoidance of doubt, this email constitutes the TAB withdrawing your eligibility to current promotions such as "Spring Loaded" and "TAB Try Time".

Everything else remains the same - your account will remain active for you to continue to enjoy.

    Kind Regards,

    TAB

    ***********************************************

I emailed the TAB back asking to clarify the type of betting activity that has to change for me to be eligible for future promotions. I've yet to receive a response.

Of course the TAB reserves the right to make anyone ineligible for any of its promotions at any time. But I'm curious to know why me?

Yes I won plenty of bonus bets on the Cricket and Rugby World Cups but no doubt so would thousands of others.

Which makes me wonder whether it was actually my betting strategy that incurred the wrath of the TAB. i.e. Using the Bonus Bets for Multi-Betting

Has anyone else here suffered a similar fate?

    cheers
    R

    Thanks for posting Raymond,

You have given me a bloody great idea in that in future I too will use my "bonus bets" for multi's rather than trying to "buy money" with poor odd.

  13. For my three pence worth Pete has been the best person on either channel that I have had the pleasure of dealing with.

Pete, thank goodness you haven’t really gone anywhere and whether or not it’s on here or RC, keep up the good work.

To everyone else, try even harder and make this site a more equal one in every way.

You will find me posting on both channels but much more often on the other one, because the debate is mostly better.

Now that’s a statement/challenge so let’s try and make both sites as good as one another, especially this one.

This was the key recommendation of the 17 recommendations in the Messara report, with the report stating that unless it was implemented, the other recos were futile

Agree, but how much more of "our money" can they spend, not knowing what they are doing, plus with the boarder restrictions in place or inter-country restrictions in place what does it matter anyway?

That's it for this comp - apart from the fact that Midnight Caller has $100 to spend next Saturday.

Thanks to all participants and I hope you enjoyed this little interlude from PJs comps which will be back in all their glory next Saturday.

Thank you Pete for all the work you do putting the competition together and doing the scoring.
It’s been a pleasure to co-sponsor the last three weeks with you.
Hopefully the “winners” bets later tonight and next week will prove fruitful for the charity, being the Huntington’s Disease Association.
