  1. Great have Godzstar & maybe Mr Gee, myself & Pete (who hopefully will throw hat in). Plus Globe. And any others. Iv created a thread. It will give you a good idea on if you can pick a 1st 4 or not.

So for eg for real (but not playing for real) if you were to bet $100 thats 83.3 ish %. If your bet comes in & is paying $500 or $1000 or $2000 thats a big win. If I was to actually do it, Id prob do it on a maiden & look for an open race or 1 that I think the hot fav wont win. So perhaps we could have a Best Bet. BUT that wont count for comp but you can note to yourself if you BB comes in.

Good luck all. Iv created a thread & will edit it before 1st race as I plan to. It looks very challenging!

  2. Here are my selections. Ill edit them before R1. 2 races have only 6 runners, so hopefully everyone who enters get off the mark. This is a potentially harder comp. Pick 5 horses. They will be boxed. All 4 must be selected to get the 1st 4. Digital payout will be 1st 4 divident. Person with highest $ after R10 is winner. Comp is for fun & to see who is the 1st 4 KING or QUEEN. Have a go

    R1 1, 4, 6, 9, 10,

    R2 1, 2, 5, 6, 8,

    R3 2, 4, 5, 7, 8

    R4 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

    R5 2, 4, 8, 9, 14

    R6 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

    R7 2, 3, 4, 7, 9

    R8 1, 2, 5 ,6, 11

    R9 1, 2, 4, 5, 6

    R10 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Unfortunately I'm not available to do a comp tomorrow night.

No probs Pete. I could prob do it.

Should be easy & quick enough, Ill just scan thru and see who has all 4 numbers after each race. Im picking its going to be a hardish comp. Some may end on $0. Including me!

Hopefully 5 or more will join. Ill go ahead & create a comp thread now.

  4. Hi Pete would you be interested in hosting a comp this Fri? Something different. Pick 5 horses per race every race & they will be boxed for 1st 4. Poster with most $ at end of meeting wins

    Who can crack the 1st 4, so 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th in a race?

RP is racing in a listed race, test for CD to get him away from a stand. Needs to walk him forward, apologize later. Not have him standing still. If still, hes more likely to gallop away. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission & RP is rebuilding confidence. Plus a Lou filly is drawn to potentially win a G1. A nice meeting :-)

  5. Still no update as to who is new HRNZ CEO. But I made sure to just go on HRNZ before running my mouth. Surely they must announce someone soon as they did interviews 2 weeks ago I hear.

A tip for Camb would be to put a Health & Safety sign up on staircase Grandstand when wet, as on The big Race nite, a friend who attended & was in Skylounge witnessed an elderly guy (like Raceplace posters age hehe) exit Skylounge & walk then slip, then tumble literally down 1/2 the grandstand concrete stairs! Before smashing their head on a grandstand seat.

That sounds really bad & a health & safety hazard. Slippery when wet sign should read. Esp on wet nites & when people have had a couple.

Harness is quiet, so poking my beak in. Just went & read this. I suspect he didnt like you saying, "you are being the negative one". (As will probably see that as an attack on him).

However its being hypocritical, as he literally posted to someone else "can u ever post a positive post", (implying that person is always posting negative).

Which of course is why you mentioned it.

So cutting to chase hes allowed to imply someone is being negative but you are not allowed to tell him he is. Now as a reaction & consquence of you calling this out, you are in the naughty corner. Oh my. Isnt that what parents do to their kids when they misbehave. Put them in the naughty corner lol.

I left the course soon after the last race, and there was no sign of the boys in blue at all. Just on that note, I must say Omoto and Kumara do a great job with the booze buses in their neck of the woods during the coast circuit.

The Cambridge big screen on course was great. Viewing from the grandstand was perfect. Facilities extremely dated however.  Paying good coin to attend, and having to leave the main part of the function area to use the portaloos across the way is not ideal, and reminiscent of a Nigerian gallops meeting.

I had previously thought The Race may overtake The Cup. I was wrong. The Cup and moreso, Cup Day, is ingrained into Cantabrian's DNA and there is a lot of work to do, for it to overtake the Cup. But Mr Branch is the right man at the helm to give it a run for its money.

Ok, so thats sneaky then, sounds like they must of set up after you left Rusty, as got wires crossed & spoke to mulitple people whom stayed on for concert & they said booze buses were 100% there testing people leaving at conclusion of concert.

Oh dear main function area people having to use portaloos, I never hear that til now. And I didnt realise they were still using those horrid dated spaces. Remember me moaning about them at Jewels. Those dated spaces are embarrasing to take people to.

I did have a group of friends 5-6, that blamed themselves, not club, as were humming & harring about going, then decided to go, by time decided to go, had to go on a waitlist for a nice lounge area. So they had to go general admission, they said they stayed 30 mins as quickly discovered general admission was not for them! They left & spent rest of nite at a local pub.

Another person I spoke to who went general admission said that Camb doesnt have the facilities to hold this type of function. (I agreed, but told them about a new development so in future will). They had a great time regardless. Another I spoke to was taken back by the general admission price of close to $70, but they still had a good time.

So yea def room for improvement re facilities but sounds like there was lots of loos (but yea lounge people shouldnt be using portaloos yikes & lots of beverage & food serving outlets).

Any update on the grins  slot holders ? Thought it was for 3 years then a renewal

Oh yea good question. No idea. Someone else may know?

  8. So is it B Steele from Albion Park? Or any word on who it is other than him? Was just reading up a lil about him. I liked how he said in an article he disagrees with his bro 50% of time.

Also took a look at Albion Park membership benefits & options, incentives to join & looks quite good. Im guessing the Creek is quite popular Lightning? Do you much about him?

Branch mustn't of gone for it which is a shame. Mind you hes building Cambridge & The Race. Speaking of which jumping subjects heard police had booze buses literally right outside the main car, not up the road or sneaky around corner after The Race. Of course no one should be drinking & driving. But thats sounds quite full on & a warning for those attending next year.

Yes FC exactly. Who knows what us randoms are on about.

Speaking of out there people, PP posted some sort of link, & allegedly was served with a cease & assist, which was allegely removed by PP. No idea what.

However NZ law are unable to prosecute overseas media that publish or break name suppression, as PP is based in Aussie, he allegely acted in good will to remove whatever questionable link he published.

  10. Im hearing Profit maybe in trouble with NZ law for breaking a name suppression even tho he never apparently named person. Wonder what he did wrong.

Bird story could be about anyone in any country. I dont think we actually gave the country away we were talking about. I mean Bird Story could be about Big Bird or Little Bird or Covid Bird or Jailbird or Ultimate Bird or Song Bird.

Anyway heard that he is training gallopers based in Waikato Matamata now with his new partner. Shes a vet & lives up Waikato ways?

    Is this true or false?

Nothing, no news, no confirmation or announcement. Hmm. Why is everyone so quiet on here ... Im back in NZ now for rest of year.

Well congrats to him if its true & all the best. Makes sense. Its going around the Waikato anyway to be true. Its kind of news worthy. Not being gossipy.

  12. Well everyones so quiet here. Just watched Messenger & wow wee another fab win by Mach Shard. Knew these hot shot 4 y/os were beatable & would be in need of a spell. Meanwhile the likes of RP will be just getting started. Nice run. Building confidence. Seems to race better when left with his sprint left in him.

Altho in saying that you dont want to gas yourself early too much, look at what happened to Copy That when Nicolas Cage came out too & they speed dualed for too long.

Ok still on RP. Have looked at sectionals & oh my they all gased themselves!

    RP lead time was 1st 1/2 (57.2) & 3rd quarter 27.7, Jollimonts was 1st 1/2 (57.7) & 3rd quarter 27.6.

    In comparsion last year same race Copy Thats 1st 1/2 was (57.8) & 3rd quarter 29.6 & Nicolas Cage 1st 1/2 (58.1) & 29.6. Same track conditions & same overall time.

Mach Shard had slowest 1st 1/2 (58.4). His 3rd quarter 27.3, he was then able to came home over the top of them all. He came home in 29 as they all tiring. Esp those with fastest 1st 1/2 sectionals & no let up in 3rd quarter. Well done to him.

Merlin did very well with fast sectionals too & still placing 3rd.

Wow Akuta paced home last year in 25.9. So deceptive his speed.

Will leave this thread for a while & re address it closer to the Cup :-)

  15. Did more research, check out video. Its Jollimont crossing Sooner the Better at start from wide. STB had pole. Jollimont got 2nd in G1 behind DSD. Actually had Jollimont stayed on rail til end prob would of won. So if they on Jollimont chose to push the button he can go early to lead. Altho in saying that you dont want to gas yourself early too much, look at what happened to Copy That when Nicolas Cage came out too & they speed dualed for too long. Was enough to take edge off Copy That. But thats prob his best chance top 3 chance oppose going back. With RP in trail. Or RP could retake lead, if hasnt gone to hard earlty. It pushes Merlin 3 back & RP & Jollimont fight out finish lead/trail.

Looking at RPs time last start 3.17.7 still fastest horse that race even with tiring. Jollimont 3.18.2 Bear in mind RP galloped at start (Jollimont had a clean get away). RP took 2 corners 3 wide & sat parked last lap. As well as was in running lane all of race. On a wet good track & lots of runners to get around.

To put in perspective. Copy Thats NZ record stand 2700m 3.16 same track Hot & T time 2nd same race was 3.17.6. Copy That a superior horse over RP stepped lightening fast & only took 1 cnr 3 wide. Got a drag into race at end, was on rail for 1/2 of race on a fast track. Was at peak fitness. 1 start prior NZ Cup. Hot & T stepped good & same as Copy That. With alot less horses to get around.

Prior record holder 2700m stand Triple 8 3.17.2 (2019), prior that Vincent 3.19.2. Tried to find another horse running same as RPs time last start 3.17.7 over stand 2700 & struggled to, hence checked records.

  16. Happy Anzac day,

Goodie RP has new driver in CD with ace draw. Gets his chance to shine. Altho not ideal distance but quite frankly I see no excuses. Should be fit now.

Wonder how this race will roll. From memory Alex miles hit 1st cnr quick. Hard to cross if drawn 5 & further out. Hey Lightening & Globe be neat to see in Jollimont (4) use that Lou high speed to cross, RP take a nice sit & they fight out the finish.

nice . yeah Carter pretty experienced now. he could drive them all even better than B.O . Carter was driving Krug well and quite a few others. Have you seen the 'Adore Me' filly go? is really wracking up a few wins for Dalgety's team.

Blair should be driving a few of his own (training/owning) to keep him motivated and attached and not just doing 'driving fees',  nearly all the pro drivers in Nz and Aus have that extra achievement of 'doing their own' which really helps with focus .

What did you think of Jolimont 🥰 ? very nice Sweet Lou horse. Mark had him cruising 💰. Arna D had big team in tonight and she prepares them very well

Umm yes please CD. A young gun. Feel will do the horse better, perhaps connect better esp with stand starts. Try a change when not getting the desired result. Why not. Cant hurt. Thats all Ill say.

Well done Jollimont. Go the Lous.

  18. Intel is in. Absolutely not.

    Amazing nite Im hearing.

Taken all feedback onboard from last year.

A great time nite Im hearing. No complaints. Very very postive feedback. As Rusty & I predicted a couple years ago. Look out NZ Cup this could surpass you. Esp once new development is done.
