Great to hear some positive thoughts for a change.  I tend to agree with you Double R.

Fair call Nod. And agree was getting way too negative. So took a break to refresh & how good Grimson is disqualified. All the other trainers in Australasia can dance & sing in their living rooms 😀

Ill do some research & try come up with some other positive things to share 😀

Go Republican Party for the NZ Cup or Junior Free For All.

    Thunderbirds are GO.

    Betterzipit.

In true Thunderbird - Grimson fashion. He is going around telling people & telling journos & texing people that he cant see Betterzipit lose the big SLOT race West Australia. He has also said that Betterzip it is his best horse yet!

Also there was a rumour going around that Grimsons stable hand or close contact prior NZ Cup 2022 was going around telling people that Majestic Cruzier was a shoo in. (nearly won too 2nd!) came wide, wide and was still running. So pleased Copy That won!

Wonder why they were and are so confident????? Considering so many viables & this was prior the draw he was saying this. No idea if draw has been done yet. But A Butt said that now Grimson has stated this & its been made public, the Western trainers & drivers will give his horse s..t hahaha. Good. And if they get a chance to do what they did to Laz they will & post him 3 wide whole race if poss. Hahaha.

Soooo, checked into see what the haps is. I see Jason Grimson has been disqualified 12 months from

22 Aug 2023 til 22 Aug 2024 as per disqualified people on Australia Harness racing site.

Trainor his wingman Jack Trainor also disqualified as per disqualifed persons Australia Harness website from 22 Aug 2023 to 22 Nov 2023.

Grimson assaulted an Albion Park racing employee, while the man he assaulted was held back by security. This occured after numerous people taunted Grimson, calling him a drug cheat.

    A nice dinosaur though

I still think you will find that radio as a medium is not the preferred option for the younger generation, that are the potential new market for racing

Yea exactly. Even who below 30 uses Twitter.

Even Facebook is for the older generations.

Let alone radio. Get out the front door haha.

I was only pointing out that it takes this type of hype to attract people to a track. Most won't know what end of a horse to feed a carrot to. (pardon the pun) Karrots. The discretionary dollar is stretched to the limit these days for the young ,and I think a night at the Trots is down the list a bit for something to do. It's a dying sport for most, and only followed by the die hards , those involved in the industry, generational interest etc. Sad as I have followed Harness since the mid 60,s. I shall hold onto the memory's, as I am sure many will.

    Oh yip gotcha. Right on.

What a pity though, that these sort of entertainments are needed to get young ones to turn up to a Trotting meet. Good on them though, but I hope it shows up on oncourse turnover.

Dont believe its a race nite. Looks like its Fri 16th June. The Cambridge Facebook page got 75 comments on status about it. Alot of engagement.

In anycase I disagree, but we went down that track re the race & Mitch James. Agreed to disagree 😀

I think think outside the square. Get young people to know where the track is, what goes on there, have a drink & a bet & a fun nite with entertainment.

Totally boring otherwise. I dont watch, follow or bet anymore. And was a big fan & follower for a couple years. Been once in North America. Other than that dis-interested. And pop in here.

The number of race fans is going down & carrying on as status quo simply will see the end of Harness in NZ. I think its too late now anyway for it unfortuently. End of nxt year, nowhere for those at Puke to train. Lincoln Farms be close to closing up. Drivers/trainers leaving North, horse numbers. Deep South also has probs numbers & overall. Maybe there might be a couple of meeting in South a week & the odd grass track in summer. Til that then disappears too.

  7. How fun. Just seeing now Cambridge have an Stallions nite on this Fri hehehoho. Looks like a sort of male dance show, borderline strip show but not naked.

How good & outside the square thinking are they. Well done again to them. Getting the young ones and ladies to the club & track. Smart.

    BYO

Cambridge Trots have a BYO on Xmas Eve. Pretty sure it still runs. Wonder how they got to have it then if they had to pass a law now to allow it. Oh well doesnt matter now anyway as law says its allowed.

  8. Iv heard of scams on FB. People set up multiple accounts, comment on their own status. To make it look like their point majority agrees. Then worse case threaten & try to get $ out of people who strongly disagree with them. They pm people making up stories saying that person owes them money, threaten them etc. All you do is send a complaint to police. The police can then check their IP address etc & often they are known to police. Pending how they threaten or lie, you can press charges but often most dont bother as its not worth the hassle.

My neighbours horse bit his forearm, not a pretty sight, and he was as competent a man with horses as you could hope to meet

Yip, not long ago I witnessed a horse being hobbled up & it pushed the person into the wall. There were 6 of us standing in horror watching as this randomly without any warning unfolded. Happened so quick. Could of been very fatal. The person said "get out" to horse & slapped the ground with the gear in hand by horses feet as their body was being sqeeshed. Horse didnt move. Person did it again & horse moved. Had it not let go & pushed some more (squashing person against wall further & fatally), I would of done almost anything to get that horse to release & face the potential 'animal welfare' consquences later. Thank goodness it released.

Never want a meancing horse too close for comfort.

Well happy popping 🙂      Lucky Morrie Holmes and Cecil Devine didn't hang up their silks at 60 🙂

    Good call.

Doesnt change fact when we all get older our body starts to become like a used car, not a brand new one anymore.

Cautious to say this as sensitive subject & you always wish for the best.

In office & on field/track things have happened.

I looked at the video, and bit of a storm in a teacup.  Looks like he is just trying to swat the horses head away with a closed fist because it was getting too close to him.  Horses are known to inflict nasty bites lol

Yes agree. What is the 1st thing a person does when another person steps into their personal space? (other than feeling uncomfortable). Ill tell ya, they automatically take a step back. What if they cant step back & the person steps in closer & isnt there to give them a kiss. Replace that human with an animal = doesnt surprise me the reaction.

I get he got stood down etc but can completely understand why he reacted.

So doing a catchup & Lous strike again. 5 starters for 3 wins a 4th & an also ran at Addington.

Wait looks like the lil Lous won both Group races at Ashburton too. Not sure how many starters total raceday there was but a quick glimpse was 3 or 4 starters. So 2 winners from say 4 starters.

And at Alex Skylou won 2nd time in a row. Looks like 4 starters that nite for a win, a 2nd, a 3rd.

    Really showing up now.

If you apply this to social scenarios, I know who will be getting in trouble regardless.

If someone was touching my ass in a social scenerio that shouldnt be, they would be likely to get a slap too in the face ha.

I hear you & understand the bad percieved look & more than once or twice was not on.

  14. Looking at the date stamps of the forward emails I received read today, were Mon/Tues & the day news came out of HRNZ board chair etc stepping down & news surfacing of Branch Albion Park new CEO offer Wed (which looks like hes not going to take but who knows) this looks like a direct result.

Im not 100% certain tho, but pretty coincidental. Plus based on my view how I took it upon reading. Big slap in face for North Island & Branch & his team & all those that participated in survey & forums.

  15. I still hold my view on this. Which is he shouldnt of hit with a closed fist. But taking action when the following horse was riding up his ass & he felt endangered forced him to react.

He didnt just randomly strike out for zero reason. The picture to me doesnt look too bad.

Be interesting what the public comments are upon after reading the whole article & his reasoning & seeing the pic. Wouldnt surprise me if they come to my view. Shouldnt of used clinched fist but understand why he took some sort of action.

  16. Recall reading about Holden when researched HRNZ board. Wasnt impressed. Dont think he is the right person to be on board let alone Chair it. Didnt think previous Chair was right fit either for Chair of board.

Most of these people are just too out of touch & havent really been movers or shakers.

    Just read Chairmans latest newsletter.

Question why does it take surveys & forums for action? Why is it those in charge dont get it? Cant see whats happening?

    Pretty simple question.

    Simple.

Have been forwarded the HRNZ response. Everyone has their own view. Mine is pathetic. Excuse, after excuse, after excuse. They just dont get it. Pretty much nothing in my view is getting done or changing. Just excuses & what they are doing, (which clearly isnt working), & the changes they plan to make, which looked lame as & wont make much diffence. No wonder Im ready online just now Branch was looking at moving & going to Aussie. No wonder Im reading online board changes, heads have stepped down. Had spoken up for McDonald previous, but shes the author of the review response & its in my view stone age, pathetic, dont get it. She needs to go.

Sorry guys I said this on another thread think on Hall of Fame thread, but Harness has no chance. Its a hard enough sell, but makes it impossible when people who run the show have not much clue. Your flogging a dead horse.

Just looking at Addington tonight Karrots. can't answer the exact 40 + question but can look at the other end of the scale , where we were commenting on how the juniors need to get the drives to help them with motivation (and therefore harness racing future )

The news is good ! the South island Trainers really getting behind them and the Juniors won 7 of the 10 races tonight . (there weren't any in race 1 ) Professional reinsmen Blair and Tim won the other 2 races.

Carter D with 3 wins, Max Hill, Gemma T with 2, Jack harrington all in first place , and several more placings with the like of Wilson H, Sarah O , Sam Thornley and Kerryn T as well all near the money.

Think the future looks pretty bright  🌞 ! ! the youngsters proving more than capable of running with the oldies lol 😉

Thats fantastic the young guns are getting the job done! Well done to the owners & trainers supporting them.

Also Iv been given the tip Sweet Lous also getting the job done at Addington yesterday 4 of 10 races & a quick look a 2nd too from only 5 starters.

Apparently some Lous won also at Melton & West Australia yesterday too.
