Christopher Dance big offers Iv heard. Turned down to date. A $7k weanling purchase, Mandra Blue a weanling $1,500k purchase, the list goes on.

Boom, barrier draw cost him the win in Northern Derby.

  2. You are all so funny with your bickering about this subject hahahaha! You are all so fortunate & you have forgotten! No doubt worked your way to your place mind you. That was the 1st thing that I thought actually when started reading this topic.

Love how some of your are pro punters! How gd! Beats being a wage slave.

Whatever works for you eg Lightneing. I know you win your fair share & love your hobby.

Ps I did some more Harness reasearch as cant help myself ha. And not ness found what I was looking for, but here are stats based on the 2nd last Camb meeting pace races only mobile start only 4 races to do stats. Based on lead & trail.

    R2 trail 1st, lead 2nd
    R3 trail 1st

The old stand being demolished to make way for apartments seems to be the last roll of the dice for ATC? I presume they are getting a good amount of money for this land?

And down south, I see Matt Markham suggest on X that Lavros Lodge could be turned into a harness training centre with a bit of subdivision. A good idea if feasible.

The new boss of HRNZ is going to face a lot of decisions in a short time. I think it is make or break time for the harness code.

Oh hey Happy yes. I posted on here a while back well last year when I heard via the gossip tables that the $51 million sale went thru Glen Eagle. If you google Glen Eagle it shows pix. Go under property. It shows them. They look amazing! Be an asset to area. Aussie company. Sale went thru last year. Hence ATC can afford the Golden nite ot whatever its called $1 mil nite.

Also heard just today. All things moving forward re HOF.

I hear Mr B Litcher is doing an amazing job! That he has gone above & beyond. His vision for this is what it should be.

Don't forget the one I tipped you a couple of months ago for this years Nz Cup Karrots ... JOLIMONT.  a fantastic Sweet Lou horse.

He has just returned to racing and won Friday night (and last week ) with the Great man Himself MARK PURDON (doing the Very Rare catch driving)  driving for Arna Donnelly.

No way can ir win the Cup with David Butcher driving , and possibly not with Arna training even. Even though she is doing a Smashing job ( in smaller races with Kango and that)

So I Pose You this question >>>>  If you were a JOLIMONT owner  (there's 5 persons in total actually ) would you now say "Sorry Arna ..Mark could win the Nz Cup or Nz FFA later in the year for me..I'm sending the horse to him "

If mine . he'd be on the Picton ferry about now heading South 😆😎😂🏆

Yes do recall. A nice horse. Globe educated his mate about Sweet Lou. Globe had value figured out. Nice buy.

Im all about Republician Party for NZ Cup. Ill explain later closer to time why. Dont forget he was next best behind Akuta who is out & dont forget Merlin & Dont Stop Dreaming are younger & new to OC big guns. Im surprised RP hasnt got a slot yet. Oh well. Hes not at his fittest yet. Long time til NZ Cup goal. Plus he has a stable mate in Krug. Who does younger Merlin & Dont Stop Dreaming have? Self Assured didnt race in NZ Cup I understand last year.

Hope Grimson doest come with a donkey. Turned super star. Btw who was his latest donekey turned super star, turned burnt out and done just as quick? Hi My Name is Jeff to add to list so Im hearing. Hehe. The NZ Cup banter has started!

He is, but hasn't covered as many Mares this time in. Still flying though.

    Hey Globie,

Not sure what you mean re hasnt covered as many mares this time in. He covered 262 in 2024 season by far the most of any sire in NZ 2nd best Downbyseasside 116 covered. A screen shot & also link to all sires numbers. If you click on numbers. Also under sire name click on fertility & it pops up.  2016 he started in NZ & covered less than 100 mares for 2 years. After success of Sweet on Me he went up to the  almost top in NZ covering into 200s. Then tappered off for 2 years covering very few. But just this season rose to very top again. To be king. Most likely as I predicted a few years ago he will be number 1 in NZ sire that takes over from Bettors. A big prediction to make at time  including watch out for Telfers, they will be top NZ trainers. A big prediction at time too. They did btw. I recall Nod was keen on Always B Miki. Sorry if Im being a know all, just nice for my prediction to come about when hardly anyone was interested in listening & were big calls to make at time but numbers wise obvious. I posted this on Boay to anyone listening ha. PS Nod Republican Party for NZ Cup 2024!! (Better add in pending luck or stable driving & no cheats)!

  6. Doing some NZ Harness quick research & found this recent article. For Sweet Lou fans, he is now the most in demand sire in NZ. Overall for all breeding numbers down.

    https://www.hrnz.co.nz/news/sweet-lou-popular-but-breeding-totals-decline-in-202324/

Also amounst my research checked Alex P results Fri & Oaks winner All You Need is Me by Adore Me. Adore Me producing top horses. Clicked on her progeny Sweet On Me (Sweet Lou) G1 winner & Remember Me G1 place getter & they have both unfortuenlty died. Darling Me (Sweet Lou) & Forever Me (Sweet Lou) both now at stud. Be interesting how he goes as a broodmare sire.

These trainers seem to have more than their fair share of horses dropping out of races about 400m out from home, having done bugger all work (if any) during the race.

    Unlucky.

I can't recall other trainers having this happening multiple times. Especially when the horses are not racing in a fresh state. It's very unlucky indeed.

I wonder if the trainers feel the need to start x amount of horses or somehow feel pressure or maybe just dont see obvious signs.

I def dont think any weird ness or cheating going on. Im more starting to think some of these horses simply shouldnt be starting.

Iv been told about 1 recent 1 for eg.

Ran not long ago last by a country mile. Came back with some sort of virus. Then they went ahead & started the horse again a week later. Only for same thing to happen it dropped out dramatically. I just checked stripes report & yes a health issue (nothing to do with heart health). And stood down pending a vet clearance.

  8. What an interesting thread. Its so long so skipped to end. Iv always noticed & said Cambridge Harness is a front runner, leader bias, rail bias track. So barrier is key to help get those handy positions over your rivals. If in lead or trail you have a good chance at placing in top 3. Just took at quick look at Camb 21st Mar replays pacing races only. 6 races = 3 wins, 3 2nds, 3 3rds from either lead & trail positions.

    R1 trailer 3rd

    R3 leader 1st trailer 2nd (quinella)

    R4 leader 1st

    R6 leader 1st trailer 2nd (quinella)

    R7 trailer 3rd

    R8 leader 2nd, trailer 3rd

Seems like gallops its not as important. I kind of never thought it would be of been as much bigger tracks, longer straights, no sulkies to have to get around, no stable driving (unless you have 20+ in a race). Interesting they drop price for it more than what they should, hence what Barry etc are saying. Get how u guys bet. Figured out a good winning long term profit stategy.

Sorry to hear Lightening re your wife. Still recall you saying you were off to her work Xmas Do in happier times. Golly when was that must of been 2019 or 2020.

  9. So whats up Josia is the person doing the jail-house rock or Home D?

    Heard multiple accusers.

Above & beyond that, heard multiple past complaints too, that didnt quite make it as far as what is now!

Been very careful in not posting much about this, as also considered the defendants mental health.

But when one hears about the lame blame shift :classic_wacko:

Hi Karrots.Yes,hearing he 'chucked in' his license before it was officially taken off him.Hope he never returns to The Track.

    Hey my fav Josias,

Yes hear marriage is over. All a bit sad really. Surprised u knew what I was talking about. Being so cryptic & all. Have to be!

Spoke with a commentator & when I asked what latest, they said didnt know, but what they did know they said "person was on borrowed time".

Isnt it a disgrace all the support at the highest level the person had. Shameful. Made me realise certain things about the industry. The more I learn the more negative I have become.

I just root for all the good guys & ladies in the industry and they are out there!!!

  11. Gawd blimey whats going on here?

Looks like Yole is back. How did that happen? But again a bunch of scratched runners. Cant keep up with this debacle.

His brother & Ford brothers also got warned off. Looks like his Father took over briefly his horses, how bad having rules allowing that.

What a saga. Should be simple. What a circus.

  12. Hola,

Hearing Bird Story 2, someone is no longer licensed.

Remember Far Too Much we decided Birdstory 1 was rubbish, but who really knows.

Well Birdstory 2 def is not rubbish sadly.

I hear Bird story Take 2 has struck unfortunetly. Sad all round really.

But not original bird story, Far Too Much. Different parties all round. I guess original Bird Story will come to light 1 day. Just takes a long time for justice.

My heart health is all gd now 😀

    And another one today.

    Same trainers.

DELIGHTFUL CHIC - commenced to weaken from the 350m hampering trailing runners and contacted a track marker near the 220m. When questioned Driver J Dickie could offer no explanation for the disappointing run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

    Hola Rusty,

Hearing the owners got a txt or email not long prior race, about how well the horse was & was expected to do well. Sad really. Hopefully their horse is ok.

  15. The panel will consult the National Forum on the proposed nominees to be offered to the members at the AGM for election.

At the 2024 AGM the board will reduced from eight to seven members. All current directors will retire. They are all eligible to re-apply next year for election.

  16. The HRNZ Annual General Meeting on Saturday 14 October 2023 unanimously adopted a resolution to introduce new regional and national consultation forums and a new merit and skills-based appointment’s process for the selection of the HRNZ directors.

It was moved by the NZ Standardbred Breeders Association and seconded by Rangiora Harness Racing on behalf the Harness Racing Governance Working Group, a representative group of club leaders who have been working together for the last six months.

The changes were put forward after extensive consultation with clubs and kindred bodies across the country. The final remit was agreed to when The Breeders and the Governance Working Group merged their similar proposals.

    New Board

HRNZ directors will now be elected by its members at the AGM, the same as for many public companies. Other sporting codes are now treading the same pathway with very similar structures. The recent review of New Zealand Rugby’s governance and other national sporting body reforms provided support for these moves.

An executive recruitment firm experienced in recruiting national sporting body leaders will manage the directors’ recruitment right down to nominating the short list of candidates to an industry panel

Shambles all round. So the ATC could possibly have thrown out the HRNZ Board? That is priceless.

The only thing that will enhance racing in NZ is Entain. It is beyond any harness racing admin (clubs or board) with their limited budgets and skills it seems.

On a lighter racing note, which is the only thing that really matters. Fancy getting 11th (and last) but only 2.6L away from the winner. Not often do you see the whole field in the frame.

    image.thumb.png.eac7e39765a45ffb74902d8839de9e8f.png

Hahaha, so yes can confirm it was ATC letter out to their members, BUT not them that got the ball rolling as below link, after Iv done a bit of research it actually has been made public.  So no secret after all!

Worded by ATC something along the lines of that at last years Oct AGM unaniamously voted by all clubs voted for a new structure for board. Therefore this means an entire new board, which starts Sept or Oct 2024.

Here is a link I found on it, its worded different but ATC have made wording much simplier to understand.

Looks like there is some sort of regional North Island admin etc. As per link

    Greater Consultation :

Under the structure three regional forums will be established (North Island, Upper South Island and Southern) to coordinate and lead consultation in their area.

    https://www.hrnz.co.nz/news/hrnz-agm-new-consultation-forums-and-appointment-of-directors/

  18. Oh yes also nearly forgot Im hearing Cambridge have taken onboard all feedback from last year & implementing into this years The Race.

Eg More Bars more staff & a bigger better public area & more options up from general public at more affordable prices  Remember when Karrots was having a moan on behalf of mates that attended. A massive line 1 hour long for drink.

Good on them for being proactive & smart & listening to the people. Guess it makes some people want to give them another chance.

Yip, re-read. Its a new system process was voted in by all clubs unamiously. Wont post a screen shot as dont want to get the club in the poop that sent it out to their members of the info. Of course the email has been forwarded onto numerous others.

Was voted in end of last year. Surprised nothing has been said or officially said.

But can say it came from 1 of the high profile clubs. So either Addington, Cambridge or ATC.

  21. Thx for that update Happy & Rusty.

Forgot to share with you as know some off you are enthusiatic on all things Harness.

Off topic, received a forward email to me but was traveling hence forgot to share here.

It stated clearly that the clubs annoymously voted the current NZ Harness board out. That the change takes place this Sept or Oct. Cant remember exact wording if they have to reapply or if new people will be put forward. Coming to think more about it, think it was a new system was being put in place. This info isnt hear say. It was an official email from a club forward to me.

The HRNZ board are getting the lamb chop. Go the clubs. Hopefully for NZ Harness racing its not too little too late.

    For me, a decent amount.

I think Swayzee drifted out to 21s when Grimson was banned but I didn't get that.

    Well done Happy.

Right yes thats right he got banned for king hitting someone. But got off that.

Back to subject how is Deep South Watch? Are they still around or no?

On a completely different note I saw people mocking this person. Think he looks fab. Rocking it. Looking slick but hey subjective.

Oh well folks Im off again now, spreading my wings & flying like a bird. Take care all.

  23. Heard Entain have been approaching people who they have had a good relationship with in past & have in past got results & not nessary those who are in current favour. In order to get a variety of opinions & information.

With the end goal improving things.

Im talking about Harness not Gallops but maybe same for Gallops.

Sounds like they have some out of the box thinkers. Bypassing racing club boards etc on future decision making & in general calling the shots.
