One thing i don't like is having a much shorter home straight because of property boundaries. IMO this is where nz racing falls short,not thinking ahead. Buying more land is what they should have been doing so they can build a decent facility and cater for even more horses from nearby tracks like Waipa and Te Rapa.

Will they retain or rebuild a grass track for galloping or trials or is that going the way of the moa.

Anybody able to tell me anything about Tologa Bay apart from the obvious. Nearing an age where u think about ,whats next and the East Coast has been mentioned as a possible area of interest. Living by the beach seems nice to me but plenty of other things to consider also.

JMO but i always compare Gate Pa to Waipa in the ways its shape and that leads to horses for courses,where as Te Aroha suits many more horses.

Size of the fields tomorrow would indicate too much racing or horses choosing to go elsewhere. Still a good crowd will be in attendance due to a tradition of racing at TGA over the summer.

Would be good if trainers in all three codes had written questions put to them and then reproduced on this sight. The same questions would produce a sort of poll answer and from that a good view of whats happening in the 3 industries could be formed. I would presume many of them would want remain anonymous so anominity would have to be guaranteed.

Only been to Hastings once and that was many years ago when a friend of mine had a runner in one of those socalled triple crown races. The Racecourse and a BP service station to get 2 steak and cheese pies which were washed down by a coke were my ports of visit. Apart from that the only time i hear or read about Hastings/Napier is when Flaxmere is mentioned regarding a crime.

Ron Brierley apparently arrested in Aussie for possession of images of child abuse. Started his career as a publisher of a weekly racing tipsheet. No wonder he has been exiting a few companies lately.Will need plenty to defend these alleged charges.
