  1. But of those 4500 people, how many were from Remuera, and how many were guzzling glasses of Champers like there was no tommorrow, and how many were giggling and having a right royal time on the grass, and how many didn't know the front of a horse from the backside of a horse. They are the good lookers we want at our race meetings.
  2. Patriots lose first home game since 2017. Texans lose again. Some of these teams are very inconsistent

Just been in contact with Noels brother and Strike Again was the horse trained by Winder. Before it left nz it won 4/5 in a row. Started in 1973 MC won by Gala Supreme.
  6. Long way out from Oaks and Derby so i presume trainers have to look after their horses and not peak to early or there maybe bigger riches coming up over xmas. Still pretty poor imo.

Just been reading Noel Riordans obiturary in the Te Awamutu Courier . Strike Again was the horse and W.C Winder trained it.Owner wanted a picture of his horse going past the post first and they got it. Not Again and Terrific both owned by Dr McGregor Grant and trained by Merv Ritchie. Terrific failed in Aus and when Not Again went over headlineread" Oh no not again" given that they werewell hyped.

Apparently broke down during MC and still ran 4 th according to an article in Galloping Greats by John Costello.

I think Bill Winder trained it. May be wrong but i think it was by Alcimedes.
  13. 1st win of the season for the Bengals. That chap living on his roof until the Bengals won a game.....Come on Down.
  14. I see on another site people getting angry over a Steve Donovan wanting to list Te Akau runners that have cost plenty but fail to live up to the hype.(thats how i read it,could be wrong). I myself see nothing wrong with this unless its lies and b/s. In this day of statistics everywhere you go,surveys, etc it just seems like something interesting for those who are interested to do. I recall many times on that site mention of sale topper failures. Nz racing gives us jockey, trainer percentages etc this is imo just another tool for those interested. All sports esp NFL,NBA,give out player statistics every day. I myself would read the information just out of interest. Basically it comes down to choice u know that old thing called democracy. JMO.

Thinking along the lines of something like that,we could have all our races for 25k and a maximum for Derby,Guineas,Oaks etc100k. Those that want to race a horse would still do it.

Put plenty on her this Sunday at Te Rapa. This will be her day.
  18. Thought POPNROCK a wee bit unlucky in the 2nd at CHCH.Appeared rider lost whip and was unable to encourage the horse as much as she wanted to.
  19. Just watched Jay Black of Jay and the Americans singing CARA MIA in a pbs recording in 2009. At 63 he puts a lot of singers to shame, still hitting the high notes.
  20. According to the Waikato Times, this years Boxing Day races at Pirongia have been cancelled,or as the Pirongia boss says ''put to sleep''. Blames dwindling crowds, harness racing only, high compliance costs and those pesky Boxing Day sales. What a choice,a day in the hot sun at the races(with limited shelter) or a stroll around an air conditioned mall with many varieties of food and drink waiting to be sampled.
  21. Moody not confident after viewing her in parade ring. Also mentioned another horse that he wasn't happy about, can't think of its name

Fronting up in R2at Te Rapa today.Paying about $4 at the moment.IMO should win on her ears but racings a funny game. Also FULL sister De La Tere in R1. Rogerson could win the first 2.
  23. I;m not convinced that even if she wins the LKS that people will acknowlege her accomplishment. It,imo is a pretty ordinary field,3 9 year olds,a couple of 8 year olds, doesn't seem to me to be many horses in there that will go on with it. However she can only beat whats put in front of her .
