  1. Not sure how many here have ever run a major event like Melbourne Cup day but if they wanted a guaranteed financial disaster then you try and shift the meeting to Avondale on 3 days notice. It is not turnover that underpins this type of meeting like it did back when you were wearing short pants!!!
  2. A tense day with the Squirrel trying to be a good sport but mumbling many threats to Sebrenco under his breath!!! Thanks Rees for pummeling me into submission...yet again! Your ability to pick multiple double figure winners is legendary. However it is a team game and the four remaining Turbo's were magnificent as they scrapped all day to send us into the final. Thanks Maria and the Swampies, an awesome game befitting a semi final. Thanks team Turbo - another super effort and we now look forward to tackling those puddies next week. And finally thanks PJ - you are amazing.
  3. Thank god for team mates as Rees is giving me a good old fashioned butt kicking!!!!
  4. By my humble calculations I think the turbo's have kept their noses in front to down the Maggies. Jase you smashed the Squirrel today - well played fella! Commiserations Maggies as you practically led from go to whoa but were nabbed late (Just like my firking massive win multi finishing on Deep Beauty in the last at Te Rapa aaaarrggh) Unfortunately Ray we were the bunnies today but Gaz, Stevie P and Zig stepped up and carried us home - thanks fellas. Well played to all and looking forward to a semifinal showdown next week once PJ has settled the dust!
  5. Like my name bud - you get an acorn every now and then 😄
  6. Thanks Maria - it was a topsy turvy battle that swung from good to bad for both teams all day, so well played to both teams! Turbo's we managed to snatch the victory and hopefully set up a semi final run. Great match!
  7. Thrilling finish Turbo's v Swamp Monsters although my opponent has me beaten (well played OM). All down to race 10 which will be a nail biter!
  8. Looks like the Turbos have come up a tad short in our quest for victory! Well played Ferdies - a titanic struggle. Maurice has kicked my furry butt again although with a tally of nearly $550 I could ask the question what does a rodent need to do to win a match!! Good work Turbos we went down in a tooth and nail scrap as my old grandad used to say "while we were getting a hiding at least the opposition were getting half a hiding back" Onwards to next week and hopefully we are still in the fight for top 4! cheers Pj
  9. Empire Rose beats Natski - Natski is ahead of the mares hindquarters but she was so big he was still a head shy of victory!
  10. Sorry Jack is correct - had a hard day and the eyesight was failing by the time I wrote that!!! Chiefs final tally was $1697.20
  11. Full time called ob Chiefs v Turbo's and a resounding win for Jack and the Chiefs. Sorry no race by race extrapolation but suffice to say that a couple of well placed BB’s saw the Chiefs take this one out 4-1 with Ray the outstanding performer for the beaten Turbo’s who bowed to the might of Tassie who put up a huge tally to lead the Chiefs home. Chiefs take 3 points for the victory and a bonus for their team total so by my calculations a 12 point haul with their Triple joker play. Great work Chiefs well played!! but a good effort by the Turbos who still put up some good figures but were just outgunned. 282.80 Jack 227 Blind Squirrel 159 Lightning Blue 640.80 Ray 96 Gee 48 Steve P 771.60 Tassie Tiger 150 Gary 387.80 Robert 98.80 Zig CHIEFS $1164.60 TURBO’S $1697.20
  12. Hi fellow turbos and worthy chiefs opponents just made it home so will shove some dinner down and get on to a results wrap
  13. Round 4 - Sat October 1 Race 10 – Randwick Race 9 1st – 6 No Compromise $6.60 2nd – 2 Le Don De Vie Q-$17.10 Scr: 9, 13 3 Chiefs*** (3rd) 1041.20 2 Turbos (2nd) 710.60 Half time oranges appear as Ray is the only one to find the ex-Kiwi No Compromise for the Turbo’s. He also had the previous winner as a BB so aggregates changed to reflect this as the Chiefs lead narrowly on match score and by a stack on the aggregate as both teams trudge to the changing room to prepare for the NZ leg on Wednesday and the scorer drops from exhaustion. Note to self: MUST do better 66.80 Jack 39 Blind Squirrel 61 Lightning Blue 582.80 Ray 0 Gee 22 Steve P 583.60 Tassie Tiger 0 Gary 329.80 Robert 66.80 Zig
  14. Sorry mate will update in the wash up next race. Super pick by the way!
  15. Round 4 - Sat October 1 Race 9 – Flemington Race 7 1st – 6 Smokin’ Romans $22.50 2nd – 15 Maximal Q-$203 Scr: 3,10 3 Chiefs*** (3rd) 1041.20 2 Turbos (2nd) 419.60 Smokin Romans upsets and provides The Tassie Tiger with a mighty BB as teammate Robert bags his third winner in a row to blast the Chiefs aggregate out of the park. Ray replies for The Turbos to keep the match score on a knife edge going into the last Aussie race of the day 66.80 Jack 39 Blind Squirrel 61 Lightning Blue 291.80 Ray 0 Gee 22 Steve P 583.60 Tassie Tiger 0 Gary 329.80 Robert 66.80 Zig Far too many permutations for the furry brain to handle in the last although Chiefs would hope for Mankayan or Durston while Chiefs chanting Stockman, Arapaho or Hameron
  16. Round 4 - Sat October 1 Race 8 – Randwick Race 8 1st= – 1 Top Ranked $2.20 & 3 Ellsberg $7.70 2nd – 1 & 3 Q-$33 Scr: 10 3 Chiefs*** (3rd) 366.20 2 Turbos (2nd) 194.60 The dead-heat creates chaos as the Chiefs take the lead courtesy of both Robert and The Tiger bagging Ellsberg while Steve P replies with Top Ranked. Turbo’s dodge a bullet with the halving of the Ellsberg price! 66.80 Jack 39 Blind Squirrel 61 Lightning Blue 66.80 Ray 0 Gee 22 Steve P 133.60 Tassie Tiger 0 Gary 104.80 Robert 66.80 Zig Turbo’s helped by Duais, Profondo and Inspirational Girl while Chiefs cheering Gold Trip and Young Werther. Big range of selections in an even race at Flemington
  17. Round 4 - Sat October 1 Race 7 – Randwick Race 7 1st – 1 Lost N Running $2.20 2nd – 3 Mazu Q-$2.90 Scr: 7, 8, 12 2 Chiefs*** (3rd) 212.2 2 Turbos (2nd) 172.60 Still locked up as Jack bags the quinella to head the Squirrel while Ray replies in kind to edge ahead of the Lightning Kid who still nabbed the NZ-bred winner. Zig and Robert also snare the favs quinella as the Chiefs maintain their lead in the aggregate. 66.80 Jack 39 Blind Squirrel 61 Lightning Blue 66.80 Ray 0 Gee 0 Steve P 56.6 Tassie Tiger 0 Gary 27.80 Robert 66.80 Zig Turbo’s take the lead with Top Ranked, Kiku or Pippali while Chiefs cheering on Ellsberg and Icebath. In fact if Pippali wins we will all drop to our knees and genuflect to the wisdom of the mighty Gazz!!!
  18. Turbos go 2 ahead with Mazu while Chiefs hit the front with Kementari My brain hurts already
  19. With my best PJ impression (probably not that got actually)!! Round 4 - Sat October 1 Race 6 – Randwick Race 6 1st - 3 Zougotcha $3.90 2nd - 2 She’s Extreme Q-$8.80 Scr: None 1 Chiefs*** (3rd) 134.6 1 Turbos (2nd) 117 All locked after the first as BS, Ray and Zig find the Waller winner, matched by Captain Jack and Lightning Blue however a snappy quinella from the Tassie Tiger has the Chiefs slightly ahead on aggregate as they look to make the most of a Triple Joker play! 39 Jack 39 Blind Squirrel 39 Lightning Blue 39 Ray 0 Gee 0 Steve P 56.6 Tassie Tiger 0 Gary 0 Robert 39 Zig
  20. Another tooth and nail struggle but the turbos manage to grind out a win off the back of a Steve P masterclass - well done that man! Gazz back in form and Ray and Zig battled well but ran into tough opponents. Thanks to my opponent Gordy, Pete and the Blues for a super game that went to the wire and could have turned on a last race result! Now get up you All Blacks!! Thanks for all your hard work PJ
  21. You were magnificent bud - super stuff. Tough battle and we managed to pop our noses in front at the right time. Big turnaround for poor GAzz who did shock and awe on MAxi last week and got the same from you this week! Well played Turbos - onwards and upwards! By the way Craig I feel your Quaddie pain - had two 10% units live at NP - Orla and Brucie - a f&&king nose for 3500. Only a decent collect off No Loitering eases the pain!
  22. Ted McLachlan does a lot of the punting for BGP but don't know who was involved today - pretty feckin average but its not like i did any better today doh
  23. Gazz hits the atomic turbo and goes ballistic! Thanks to him, Zig and Ray who carried Steve and I for the entire day! Pam you were waaay to good and a deserved winner! Thanks to Max and the puddies for an awesome match and if this is the standard to come then this comp is going to be monumental. Great stuff Turbos beaut start and we are on our way!!!!!! And of course as always thanks PJ
