Good morning all, Note - Turnover early last year was initially impacted upon by the introduction of the new TAB betting site. Some of the variances to last season’s turnover should be considered in this context. Wagering was up by +8.70% last week with the same number of races run year on year. There were -34 fewer starts overall compared to FY19, FOB continues to trend upwards +37.11% on FY19 whereas Tote declined by -8.16% comparatively. Calendar movements: The meeting at Invercargill on the 5th Feb was rescheduled to Monday 17th February. Commentary: Racing Tauranga on Thursday ran 7 races with 52 starts which is down -21 starters over 8 races last season. Turnover was up +6.99% to 1.11m this season Wairarapa RC on Thursday ran 8 races with 70 starts which is down -2 starters over 7 races last season. Improvements in FOB +63.35% primarily drove the +26.83% increase in wagering this season. Manawatu RC on Friday ran the same number of races as last season with +3 more starters (77). Improvements in FOB +46.95% primarily drove the +21.31% increase in wagering this season. Canterbury JC on Saturday ran the same number of races as last season with +4 more starters (71). Wagering increased +13.99% to 1.18m this season. Waikato RC on Saturday ran the same number of races as last season with -18 fewer starters (73). As a result, wagering declined -4.04% to 2.56m this season. The race with the highest turnover was race 7 at Te Rapa on Sat 08/02, the Herbie Dyke Stakes G1; approx. $501K wagered through the NZ TAB on the race. *All turnover figures are turnover through the NZ TAB only.
