Hesi Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 If ever there was an illustration of the poor state of tracks in NZ, it has been this weekend, mid summer Trentham, first 2 races they stuck to the rail, after that, at least a mowing strip off the fence and wide on the turn. When you check the track report, 52 mm of irrigation had been applied during a week, and 3.6 mm of rain in the last 2 days Pukekohe, the good news for some, being the track has been upgraded to a G3, the bad news, the track is described as shifty! Dancing Show Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Too much sand over lots of years. But I would have thought that Pukekohe considering they went through a huge returfing, if that is what it was.. should be pretty okay. Trentham is a difficult one, it's on a lean from outside in and it's rock base (old river bed), for summer racing you have to retain lush grass to counter the drain and you need to roll inside out and brush up between races. Not hard.. been done before in the champagne turf glory years 🙂 Quote
Freda Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 Riccarton, the same - the inside was 'off' according to many. And this after some natural watering from the heavens, not just irrigation. Never mind, it will be grand once the AWT's get going. 1 Quote
