Not quite right....Winston's notion, no doubt hammered in by the Waikato mob, was that 'lost racedays' cost the industry betting revenue. A nice theory, but we know that isn't correct. I don't think he would have got the millions gifted if the tracks were only for training. He was misinformed, of course, but he isn't the only one. Heaps still think that NZ racing 'makes' money out of betting.

What is a head-scratcher for me, is that Strathayr has allowed its product name to be used in the face of the mess-up. I would have thought they would be issuing disclaimers all over the place.
  3. More whitewashing, IMO. We never seem to address the real issues that dog this industry, and have done so for decades now. As for 'paying a mortgage' ... ffs, no-one in head office land gave a flying fk about those folk not allowed to carry on their legitimate businesses and pay THEIR mortgages during the Covid b/s .

Or....if they went ahead and built a Strathayr-as they did- why, in God's name, did they not follow the tried and true construction from A to Z, instead of deviating off course with another brilliant idea. Unbelievable.

Were you ever compelled to go to the school dances - combined with sister school St Margaret's college - where the boys and girls stood around uncomfortably in well-separated groups ? Awful occasions..!

    Turnover figures

We are now eight months into the first season of the increased stakes provided by the involvement of Entain. So, four years and four months left of the guaranteed funding as per the agreement . It may be that it is too soon to have any relevant information regarding turnovers in this period - although I'm sure, if I knew where to look, there would be some means to compare to the same period for last season. Our management hierarchy are gung-ho to the point of nausea, that the increased funding will 'turn the game around'. Does anyone here have any access to info, or opinions, on this season's turnover related to stakes increases?
  8. Broad shoulders, Hesi...!
  9. I think they should keep going. See how deep the hole gets.

    Cameron George gone

IF that is the case - and there may not have been any 'pushing' whatever we think, these folk are notoriously hard to shift - who would be the replacement? Balcombe ? Dear me, pleasant and approachable, but....
  11. Yes, I'd forgotten him, a very smart front runner . Watched a video of him with Tito Poblete up, smoothly switching the whip at every stride. Pure class.
  12. The cost of ceasing the SNS rollout was quoted at 4 mill.....so there must be a bit of spare in the biscuit tin for converting those old films.
